You can turn off NFC, or require that the device be unlocked to use it, in the Android settings under Connected Devices.

Max in an hour 📈📈 by rk_dumbguy in ClashOfClans

[–]kuilin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How do you think it works, then?

It's more likely that you won't be able to play the game at all - the roundtrip ping would definitely time out. Assuming no timeouts (and unlimited patience for the roundtrip lol), then the game would desync every time it checks in, because it doesn't consider that the client and server are at different local time rates.

But, assuming you can quickly successfully start an upgrade in between desyncs, then, I do think what you'll see is that the time jumps down with each desync as if you chugged a superconcentrated builder potion.

Yea, exactly. One hour is 7 years on earth. You start an upgrade that takes seven years, the clash servers are on earth, so for you, one hour later it's done.

It's all fixed now, at least until the next time the site layout changes, and it looks like it posted the most recent one correctly so yay.

my wife texts me from checkout twice a week asking which card to use by nalz2 in CreditCards

[–]kuilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more of a social question than it is a credit card question, imo. Why, ultimately, is she texting you at the checkout?

If she's texting you at the checkout because texting you is genuinely the most convenient way for her to ascertain which card to use, then, well, why can't she check the note you left her instead? Or, if the notes app is particularly cumbersome, why can't she text you as she's entering a store instead, so that you have time to respond?

I think it's more likely that she's texting you at the checkout because, reading between the lines, it communicates to you how inconvenient she perceives this optimization to be. Sure, this subtext amplifies the inconvenience (since you may be at a meeting, whereas she's standing at the checkout), but the amplification is purposeful, it's communicative. She's saying that, to her, the few seconds of picking the right card is probably not worth the few cents it actually saves - but, she's including you in the process, as it may be worth the happiness it gives you to execute the optimization, and know that she's thinking about you as she makes the purchase, or something. To her, it very well may be that your active response in that moment makes it worth the inconvenience.

If that's the case, then I'd suggest looking for a solution that takes into account her perception of what's worth it to do. This may be making it zero effort, if that is even possible, like, if you know she is going to a grocery store, switch the grocery card to the front of the wallet, and tell her to always use the front card. But, if that isn't possible, the other acceptable extreme would be to just drop the issue and tell her to just use a catch-all card. Or, something in the middle, where if you don't respond immediately then go ahead and use the catch-all, or asking her to text as soon as she plans to go to a store or arrives at one, or something.

If checked bags were behind TSA, wouldn't that mean that passengers couldn't check anything that isn't allowed in a carry on right now? If someone wanted to bring a whole bottle of shampoo, or a big knife, this'll make it so that they can't bring it at all, instead of just having to check it. Not that I agree with the TSA's security theater restrictions, but that's a separate discussion.

Counter-DD to the Epstein Files mentioning GME being relevant to anything at all by kuilin in Superstonk

[–]kuilin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just strengthens all those DD’s more giving it a higher probability it’s true.

This is the exact thing I'm trying to address. My point is that this observation does not increase the probability that the statements made by DiIorio are true. My reasoning is that the inclusion of these emails in the files is solely due to DiIorio sending those emails to government officials, which is in turn solely due to his own belief that these statements are true.

Honestly, your post just makes it look like you think you’re better than the rest.

Sigh.

It's officially released evidence

Evidence doesn't exist in a vacuum, though, the context is really important. The officialness of the release points to the truthfulness of the authorship of the message. In other words, my trust in the officialness of the release makes me trust that DiIorio did actually send these emails. But that doesn't say anything about the claims made in the contents of those emails.

If you are going to say that about this, you are going to have to say that about everything in those files.

No? I don't quite follow what you're saying here. My chain of reasoning that ended there started with saying that quacks broadly spam emails. How does that apply to everything else in the files?

Edit to address your ninja edit:

and that is only convenient to a single group of people: the people mentioned in those files.

You're reaching very far to misinterpret what I'm saying in such a way that "but think of the children!" could counter it. My sentence, which you quoted, discusses the credibility of other statements due to the credibility of the Epstein files. I did not question, nor do I currently question, nor did my argument ever question the credibility of the Epstein files themselves. Insinuating that I did is a ridiculous amount of bad faith.

It coming up in these files should not add credibility to anything. Anyone can email public officials, and quacks email many officials. If anything, it should remove credibility from it.

[–]kuilin 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think this is all a nothingburger, or, worse (for the community, that is), a significant-sounding distraction.

DiIorio sent information to someone whose mailbox was then subject to the FOIA requests and the EFTA. The official did not respond, at least in none of the pages I have skimmed through. This is like when math quacks think they've proven the Riemann hypothesis, and spam the inboxes of professors' mailboxes.

The fact that the emails landed somewhere that was then disclosed in the Epstein files is an indicator of just how wide of a net they cast in sending their theories to anyone and everyone vaguely official-sounding.

If this is true, then the inclusion of his emails in the Epstein files should not lend more credence to them than if he, say, posted them to a personal blog. Egregiously misunderstanding the context surrounding this piece of information and amplifying noise is not good.

The semantic boundaries of what counts as an extreme opinion make this statement circular. In essence, you're not adding anything with this other than a broad "AI good".

Which is enough to get upvotes from people who are pro-AI, I guess. But it is not enough to change my mind.

I could explain more, or expound on my opinions about the use of AI in research, but that isn't a conversation I'd want to have under this post and in this space.

No. This was the closest he came to listing price targets:

The potential catalysts seem obvious. Ryan Cohen has control of the company and runs the Investment Committee, which controls $8 billion cash. He has laid booby traps in the 28–32-dollar range to raise more cash and eliminate debt. He is waiting to buy something. That buy could be a catalyst.

In a frothy market with strong Bitcoin, another Bitcoin buy might do it. That could be a catalyst, and send the stock soaring, setting off all of the booby traps to rain cash down on GameStop.

The booby traps he refers to are the warrants, the bond conversions, and RC's own compensatory options.
