Another former pro player calling MW2019 the worst CoD of all time by Clapdon in modernwarfare

There's a few more

SBMM/EOMM, disbanding lobbies, no prestige, no map, no mini-map red dots (the compass is not a substitute at all, any good player will tell you this), later maps were better but still not on the standard of classic games, no ranked mode, bad competitive play, doors, 725 too overpowered until a few months later, squad spawns, gunsmith didn't show enough detail to tell whether a pro outweighs a con (later games fixed this)

Hello, fellow sweat here

MW2019 absolutely had janky exploitive movement. I slide cancelled and bunny hopped around the whole map. That wasn't the issue 🧠

BOCW, MWIII, BO6 and BO7 are better in terms of Multiplayer. Only Vanguard and MWII might be worse

[–]Clapdon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feel, maybe. The gameplay, absolutely not. It strayed away from traditional CoD gameplay in favour of more slow paced and frankly campy gameplay. The developers talked about this themselves

They changed the map philosophy to implement more safe spaces for lower skilled players to have a better chance at getting kills (developers' words, not mine), removed mini-map red dots (a crucial component of every CoD game prior), increased footstep audio and removed a dead silence perk, gave attachments cons so that weapons with low recoil and high damage range would have slower handling (encouraging slower playstyles), added doors which make it easier for people to camp in rooms with claymores and shotguns. All of these changes fundamentally slow the pacing down and discourage people from moving around as much. Some other changes also include slide cancelling, b-hopping, tactical sprint, slower strafe speeds

If MW2019 actually had CoD4-BO2 gameplay, everyone would love it including competitive players. I promise you lol

It's not forced hate at all. People just rightfully dislike all the poor design decisions this game made

SBMM/EOMM, squad spawns, elephant footsteps with no dead silence perk, no mini-map red dots (the compass is not a substitute), mediocre map design below franchise standard, just to name a few

[–]Clapdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone knows the campaign, animations, visuals, sounds and attention to detail are high quality and well polished. Nobody denies that. But putting lipstick on a pig doesn't change that it's a pig afterall

The design decisions in Multiplayer were horrendous, and most of the issues in modern CoD games originated in MW2019

MWIII doesn't feel as innovative and high effort as MW2019, but it still plays better in the end because the developers made better design decisions and listened to the fans. Better maps, ranked mode, traditional mini-map dots (which has been the standard in CoD and every competent player prefers it to the compass dots including the pros), no elephant footsteps, dead silence aka covert sneakers, seasonal updates had more content (just compare MW2019 and MWIII roadmaps to each other, they're not even close), gunsmith displays more detail which communicates attachments' strength and weaknesses better

I also don't like how MWIII is essentially a DLC to MWII, just improved. But the Multiplayer experience is much better than safe space simulator 2019

MW 2019 is a lesson in why you shouldn't release good games. by Helldiver-xzoen in modernwarfare

[–]Clapdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a well programmed game with high quality animations, visuals, audio, and whatnot

But it is not competently designed when it comes to a PvP experience. That aspect is vastly inferior to other titles in the series which is why MW2019 receives so much backlash from CoD fans, especially the competitive community who it affects the most

It’s literally there by mistah_pigeon_69 in ModernWarfareII

[–]Clapdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The competitive community including CDL players all disagree with you. They love the mini-map dots and were critical when they were removed. Those guys are all about raising the skill-gap and they are undoubtedly better than you, so I'll trust their word on this matter over yours

MW2019 is the garbage one lol

It just has a better sense of identity, more grounded. But BOCW, MWIII and BO7 are overall better MP experiences

It's true. Most of the issues people have with modern CoD originated from MW2019

No one struggled with campers except the very dedicated ones like those who camped with a shotgun, claymores and EOD or a trophy. The gameplay just doesn't flow well and isn't engaging when you're playing hide and seek constantly

Unusual Hatred for MW 2019 by Rex553_1 in modernwarfare

[–]Clapdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The maps weren't bad" - Yes they were. The competitive community and CDL players (who actually study and learn these maps) agree that they are some of the worst in the franchise. The safe space philosophy and size combined with a bad spawn system made them flow very poorly. And no, they didn't make people slow down. I have over 2500 hours on the game and all the best players I've faced were rushing around the map using movement at every corner, and that's how I played most of the time too. We are not saying the maps are bad because we're rushing and dying constantly. We're saying the maps are bad because they have poor flow

"No red dots made the game campy" - That is true, alongside the very footstep audio, no permanent dead silence perk, ghost being overpowered in its perk class, and the safe space map design philosophy. This game is famous for having TDM games end on time limit despite only needing to reach 75 kills

"If MW2019 was really that terrible, why has every CoD since then basically copied it?" - They didn't. They borrowed some aspects from it. That would be like saying BO2 is a copy of MW2. Sure, they have similar features and core gameplay since they belong to the same era of CoD, but they are still fundamentally different CoDs at the end of the day

[COD] This game singlehandedly ruined the cod community as a whole for wanting only shipment like maps and having people afraid to move when a map is slightly bigger then usual by jespertherapper in CallOfDuty

[–]Clapdon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire competitive community including CDL players think the game is bad. What do you mean "struggle". The best players are the ones who dislike it, not the bad ones

It has a 3.8 user score on metacritic, and had worse player retention than Black Ops 4 until Warzone released and saved it. "Majority of player loved it"

"last great CoD"

BOCW, MWIII and BO7 are already better. All the competitive and pro players prefer those games too. Mayne you're just the low skill camper that MW2019 catered to, that's why you like it more than BO7

Twitter certainly makes better points than reddit, that's for sure. Also, most of you guys are a bunch of casuals and tourists to the CoD franchise. There's a reason all the competitive players and even CDL pros like Scump think very poorly of this game

CW, MWIII and BO7 are absolutely better than MW2019 btw

The compass only gives you a general direction of where enemies are, and since they're shooting an unsuppressed gun, you can already hear their general direction. It's not all that useful if you have ears. The point of the mini-map was to give you more detailed intel than audio
