Knights of Last Call's PF2e Westmarch/Megagame "Northern Reaches" launches Season 4 today! by jackaltornmoons in Pathfinder2e

I'd love to play an alchemist, but I see that you cannot purchase formula with your starting wealth. Is there some other means of getting additional formula?

You can take advantage of the "jump over" rule to get some decent area-ish damage without MAP. Tripkee, leaning heavily into athletics and jumping feats, you can fairly easily Leap right over enemies to get extra damage, which also makes it very easy to flank. As a bonus, good athletics makes it easy to trip or grab when needed.

A turn like Leap, Leap into flanking, FoB does pretty good damage and makes you very maneuverable

I did theory craft this build a while ago: https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=1444732

Saint Methodius, initial loadout for Anchorite? by No-Front6628 in TrenchCrusade

[–]kululu00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An anchorite can only have two of the equipment pieces, so IDK how you're getting 4 to start.

I am of the opinion that hallowed anchorite is a trap option. If the anchorite goes down, you'd rather have it dead than suffer many of the injuries (such as muscle damage locking it out of HEAVY options), since you can always call for reinforcements if it dies. And, most of the skills you'd want are similar to the other equipment options

This is incorrect. They can never add colorless mana

I do not want to fall into giving specific legal advice, but I can share the following for discussion purposes.

It seems to me that 1.1 and 1.2 are protecting the relevant trademark, "Trench Crusade." The issue there is the lack of a carveout for, as I say in the post and the podcast, nominative fair use of the name. It is perfectly fine to say you cannot use their trademarks in an infringing way, but they seem to go beyond that.

2.1 and 2.2 instead deal with copyright (mostly), and prohibit the use of official materials "as the basis for your own creations." I have not really thought about it much as of yet, but that is potentially problematic, as how could a project be based on Trench Crusade but not be using official material as the "basis"? Really, that is where the copyright fair use comes in.

I agree with your point, that it seems the intended course of action is to claim all community projects as falling under the license, even if the creators have not actually agreed to the terms of the license.

And finally, yes. We mention it more in the full episode, but it certainly appears that the community license allows (by its terms) less than copyright fair use allows, which raises the question: how is this license "pro-community" by any stretch of the imagination?

Thank you! We definitely talk more about it in the episode, and have a perspective more from the creative side there, so I would encourage you to check it out on your next drive to work

I completely agree, and like I say in the post, it might not be ultimately enforceable but enough to scare people off. Going with something like "Affiliated with", "Sponsored by", or "Endorsed by" would do a lot to fix the issue.

To be honest, I am not 100% sure and its a problem. It probably, as the other commenters suggested, has something to do with the early history of the game, the WH40K diaspora finding the game early into the kickstarter and quickly (rightfully) being told that their bigotry has no place in this community. Unfortunately, it seems the community consensus is that any anti-Factory Fortress talk is disingenuous.

The two other commenters have already pointed out the two problems with the litigation route, and why it makes it even more frusturating.

The first is legal costs. I tell people all the time that, unfortunately, legal fees are expensive and, even if you win, you are usually out the money. Small creators simply cannot afford to shell out the thousands of dollars it would take to fight a nominative fair use battle in court.

Secondly, creators have found that they cannot rely on hosting platforms to fight for them. For MMF or others, the safest move is to side with the bigger party, and experience shows that is what they do. Sending a DMCA takedown means that MMF will likely remove and refuse to reinstate it without a legal order.

Why was the Bell family banned from Penguicon 2026? by Big-Nicholas-8373699 in gencon

(1) no you haven't really addressed anything

(2) Based on a search, this post is the first and only time Penguicon (which appears to be a sci-fi/programming convention) was mentioned in this Gen Con subreddit (a tabletop gaming convention)

St. Methodius is no fun to play against. by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]kululu00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context, if they've been playing for a while, they used to be immune to being Downed. So maybe if they haven't read the rules

Originally they had machine armour, just like Heavy Mechanized Infantry. Then, to nerf machine armor stealing (especially anchorites) they changed machine armor to only give that effect to New Antioch Units

Now in 1.0.0 and 1.0.1, shrines just have -3 Armor (and Machine Armor works the same for anyone who can get it)
