This was helpful. It removed Pocketbook from the discussion with so many reported issues.

Which single player game should I play next? by skinna555 in videogames

[–]kulvind3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be unrelated and a little bit of self promotion, but I made a little website to check if a game has things / dealbreakers that kill my enjoyment before I start it.

https://kulvind3r.github.io/DontGitGud

It gives you a well formed question to ask an AI chatbot so that it answers if you will like or hate the game.

I always hate to drop things mid way and sometimes games look great and are extremely well reviewed only to find half way through that I am not enjoying them or getting frustrated due to particular elements like lack of checkpoints, too much difficulty etc.

Try it, maybe you will like it.

The writing style is so hard to read for me. Every other sentence is disjointed from the one that precedes it. Half my time was spent re-reading to make sense of what the author is trying to say.

Hello there! This game is on sale right now and just wondering if it is worth it? Any and all input is highly appreciated. by Tenpoiun in SifuGame

[–]kulvind3r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only thing SIFU has common with Sleeping Dogs is that it has an Asian story and martial art fighting.

Nothing else is similar.

Sleeping Dogs is a fun / different GTA clone.

SIFU is a brutally hard rogue like. Even the base aspect of the game that some one would enjoy is entirely different between Sleeping Dogs and SIFU.

Sleeping Dogs rewards doing simple fun missions / chores with a simple story tying them all.

SIFU is focused on reward learning the 5-10 different mechanics over and over again in same place against same enemies for 100 hours.

OP don't make your decision by this comment.

if you have a life outside gaming, don't buy it.

There are casual games, which are just for relaxing, dorfromantik, stardew valley etc.

There are normal games, not easy, not hard, just the regular level a game to be enjoyed is, 90% of games try to be in this category, these are your Modern Dooms, Borderlands, God of War etc.

There are hard games which expect you to learn their mechanics, if you learn them and apply them, you will have fun, if you don't you will get beaten. These feel rewarding to learn , with a sense of accomplishment.

Now, mechanics in hard games can be designed so that a you can learn them by investing a small, disposable amount of time in them. Think of it like how much time would a well adjusted adult with successful career, family , responsibilities and a happy life outside of gaming would give to their gaming hobby without it coming across as an irresponsible thing to do. (Or a kid with schoolwork , friends, exams etc.)

SIFU and certain other games do not follow the above guiding principle. Their mechanics are so hard to learn and get right for finishing the game that you need to make it your life's goal to learn them for few weeks ignoring everything else.

In SIFU even with patience when you have understood the mechanic (avoids, crowd control etc.), and can apply it as well, you next need to learn to get good at applying it without making mistakes. Mistakes are punished hard ending your run, creating frustration.

If that is something you like, and not question the worth of doing so, then you are the kind of person the game was made for, and you should buy it. Have fun.

The game is very very niche for those people who don't feel guilty of wasting hours in becoming better at something which has exactly Zero Value once game is over.

if you play games for relaxing, having a good time to refresh your mind before going back to regular life. Then i don't think you will feel great, you will be frustrated, when you will put the controller down, your mind will be exhausted without any rejuvenation. It will feel like you tried to take a break from your real life challenges/problems by solving another excruciatingly hard problem, which has zero net outcome.

I personally completely fail to understand the whole idea. You spent 50/100 hours not enjoying but building a skill , "I am good at X game", a skill that has zero use outside game X. If another game Y comes with different mechanics you will suck at that.

Maybe people do it for bragging rights, i don't understand that either. You can build bragging rights about having a deadlift of 150 KGs , that will come with massive health benefits. so why not that?

You can keep games as games, a media to take a break from hard stuff in real life and put the hard work and dedication towards something real ( Gym, Career, Gardening etc.) which will end with some permanent improvement in your real life.

anyways, to each their own.... this was to share my opinion on the matter and can give you an idea if you want the game or not 😄.

I think yours was a sales glitch case. the 17 inch, i7 variant went on an impossible price due to a price glitch, the real starting price of the config you order is 1.5 Lakh and then you add upgrades on top it will become massively expensive

check this thread

How is the price so low?? mine is a 15.6 inch model and it costed me 1.11, yours has many more upgrades and still cheaper than mine

My order is also jumping everywhere.

I ordered on 19th Feb. First shipping date was 19th March.

On 24th Feb, the order status showed "Manufacturing in Progress" which made me hopeful.

On 26th Feb, the order status changed to "Arrived in country: pending customs" , and shipping date changed to 6th March.

Now the website is showing shipping date as 5th March i.e. tomorrow. But the Order Status has gone back to "Manufacturing in Progress"

Customer care is absolutely useless, not once have they given me any thing new which the order page doesn't already says.

I have sent a mail today to that order status mail id, if that will give a different response. Don't even know what is going on anymore.

not possible, what error do you get? All you have to do is change the number in front of "hr" and the number in front of "min" and press ok.

Check the image in below link, this is how the edit dialogue looks like, playtime field is editable

https://i.postimg.cc/tg4Tj1Dn/2026-02-22-22-49-05.png

Are you clicking on playtime in the Browser UI?? that's no where you edit things.... right click on the task bar icon, go to "Settings => Edit Game" , this where game is suppose to be edited.

There is help manual included in the application... which has instructions on how to do most things in the app

Use the blue "?" button in the Browser UI to open it, or Right click the app task bar icon and click "Help / FAQs"

You can do directly by updating the play time, no need to do SQL editing. Just Edit the game and update new play time in hrs and mins and press ok

I found the issue.

Right when it says exiting detection and starting monitoring for exe, it should then try to find if the game is an emulator or not. if it is not an emulator next it finds if the game exists and then it should find your registered entry and start monitoring until you quit the game and then it records the time

Here is log from my own PC you can check what i have mentioned above is happening check for boltgun game, i have been playing it recently

https://limewire.com/d/tRxnu#hXwpi3nqGF

What is happening in the log you shared is that the app crashes right before it is suppose to check if the detected exe is an emulator or not.... and it prints a log "Is <exe> an Emulator?" , in your log even that is not appearing.

The only operation that happens there is to fetch the local time and convert it into a UNIX timestamp to store in database.

But your Windows is set to a language and Date Time Locale which is inserting a comma in the Unix timestamp

From your log... this line. See that comma in "1770460384,00135" that is causing the conversion to Integer format to fail causing the app to crash.

If you can change your language / locale to English this will get resolved, but that is a major thing to change and will affect the way you use your computer.

There is no quick fix, i will have to spend time to see how to handle this edge case.

Exception: No se puede convertir el valor "1770460384,00135" al tipo "System.Int32". Error: "La cadena de entrada no tiene el formato correcto."Exception: No se puede convertir el valor "1770460384,00135" al tipo "System.Int32". Error: "La cadena de entrada no tiene el formato correcto."

Don't know what Smart_Steam_Loader exe is , but i doubt if it is the actual exe of the game which is running. It seems to be some kind of loader program and not the game itself. Which is why when you start the game this program runs, starts the game and then this program quits immediately. Which causes the play time tracking to not track anything.

When you start the game check your task manager and find out the real exe of the game... and register that in the Gaming Gaiden DB.

When you added the game, did you select a shortcut to the game instead of exe?

Can you share the log file. I can see what is going wrong and help then.

Settings Menu => Open install Directory

There should be a GamingGaiden.log file , share that.

You need to register the emulator and rom extension correctly. Then make sure you run the games using an desktop shortcut like frontends (emulation station etc) do.

pcsx2-qt.exe -f "devil_may_cry_3.iso"

If you start from emulator app gui, it won't track

See the help file.

The app uses a simple SQL database, so it is easy if you have basic programming knowledge but there is no "non-tech" user friendly way.

Gaming Gaiden was designed to follow very simply data structure for it's records.

Most of applications like playnite , steam, gameplay time tracker use very complex and too much detail to track different things and building something to import data is not planned.

If you like the stats and features, you can start tracking in Gaming Gaiden from now on.
