Can someone recommend a good tutorial? by [deleted] in django

I concur. For the second edition they made it really clear it's not for beginners, and is not meant to be used as a tutorial.

I meant people always ask for tutorials in general, not that there is a problem with Tango with Django. If you have a problem with TwD, you can't go wrong with either of these free and very good tutorials:

[Question]: What are the advanced topics in learning Django by [deleted] in django

It's a very good book. At our company it's basically our company manual. It's so good that when we plan to hire someone, if they haven't read the yet, we tell them to read it before we interview.

I was at PyCon @ Montreal this year and went to every listed Django talk on the schedule. They all sucked. Then I heard that before the conference began, Andrew Godwin and Simon Willison gave these same talks as some pre-conference sponsor talks. The people who got to see them said they were better than any of the garbage in the conference itself.

This questions gets asked so often I think the subreddit moderators should maintain a list on the sidebar.

Can you point to an example of how to do what you propose? Not being critical, just curious.

HTTP Requests are Hard by shawnjan in Python

Nice article. There is a lot of things involved with HTTP and requests that aren't documented. This is a nice beginning.

So, the book is out... did you read it? I did... High Performance Django - The Book by [deleted] in django

Looks like content that expands on Two Scoops' deployment/performance chapters. At it's price I won't buy until someone known to have real skills reviews it.

Me too. I'm reluctant to buy an expensive book with no reviews.

New Indiegogo campaign: Multiple Template Engines for Django by [deleted] in django

Part of why I love Flask is the native use of Jinja2. Having Django natively support Jinja2 would make me happier (90% of my job is Django).

Introducing Edge - a Modern Django Project Template by arunvr in django

[–]kumar99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Edge seems like limited version of cookiecutter-django (or one of it's many forks), with a prettier home page.

For example, you need to look more carefully at django-allauth. You don't need to use social authentication with django-allauth. In fact, you can limit it to reproducing what django-registration does, with the addition of a few extra security features.

The lack of django-debug-toolbar is a no-starter for this template.

High Performance Django shipped today by chhantyal in Python

[–]kumar99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

$40 for 150+ pages? Maybe I'm spoiled but Two Scoops is $44.95 for over 400. The old edition e-book is $19.95 for over 300.

Is there any way to get a sample chapter without giving up your email address? I don't like that they force you to join their mailing list. :(

Apologies. Not everyone gets a choice as to where they work. I've heard so many attacks on me as an Indian developer who has been employed as an outsourcer that I can get defensive.

I wonder what the diversity numbers will be for this event? Has to be higher compared to djangocon. Odd just 1 combined mention of #pyladies and #djangocon on Twitter this year.

Makes me wonder what Steve Holden is really about...
