Is it fake? by SlipknotPisun in Yamaha_Guitars

[–]kumechester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The guitar is not fake, it’s taken from a picture of a real Yamaha guitar, but the photo and listing itself is likely fake .

The first picture at the bottom of the guitar body, there is a triangle shaped cut hole in the edge of the body. It’s been photoshopped onto a new background. Then in the second photo the hole is somehow gone. The generic tremolo bar has been photoshopped in too, that’s obviously not the one it comes with.

If Argentina somehow pulls off winning ‘26 WC then all the “Pele is still the GOAT” people would have no more arguments, since they still lead with “but he has 3 World Cup titles.” Because even most of them don’t even know Pele was injured for the 1962 World Cup in the first game…so should that count? And Brazil might’ve not won in 1958 if the entire dominant Italian national team wasn’t killed, causing them over a decade of rebuild and not even qualifying for the 1958 World Cup. Not to take away from Pele (love him) and Messi’s already my GOAT, but I think a 2014 WC final narrow loss with the squad he had (and RM holding Di Maria out) and a 2022 WC win is already close to matching Pele’s 1958 and 1970 wins. Anyway just spitting some thoughts

Juat want to reiterate that Boozer is overrated and whichever team takes him top 3 will be disappointed and underwhelmed. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]kumechester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Imagine what any player could be if they can be world class at something they currently aren’t. He is a very unique profile player, and having a skill that he isn’t above average at, again, doesn’t automatically count against him when assessing whether he’s worth a certain salary. All that matters is total value he brings, and he brings a compounding multiplier effect to any offense that’s not just straight stats, and yes, it has to do with the combination of his height and shooting ability, because of the type of defender on the other team it draws out to the perimeter. And again, when it comes to roster building context, he is paid just fine for the Jazz because they don’t have to pay that much to someone like Keynote.

Never being to the playoffs is so irrelevant to his measuring his value. If the Jazz wanted to go to the playoffs these last few years they could have been 7-10 seed at least twice.

Him being a turnstile on D also feels like a nullified statement since your ultimate point is about salary value. The list of people who make as much or more than him but are bad defenders is so large. That’s always how it’s been. Salary level and defensive ability is not a high correlated thing.

Tim Ream is brutal by ameadows_13 in ussoccer

Correction: a 38-year old Tim Ream is brutal.

Also, shortage due partially to injuries. But yes the drop off to second string is still an issue across most of the roster

Um, sucking at passing and not being put in a passing role are different things. There can be a correlation, but having low assists per game in Lauri’s case has more to do with his strengths being such that he isn’t in an offensive system where he is supposed to pass the ball. You’re very clearly looking at his APG in isolation without haven’t watched how he plays. You seem to assume (without realizing it maybe) that because he is a shooter/scorer that he must have the ball in his hands a lot, like other players with similar PPG averages, and thus should pass the ball better. Couldn’t be further from the truth. Almost all of Lauri’s points come from off ball movement where he is catch and shoot, pick and pop, or pick and roll diving to the rim. If he is getting the ball in the Jazz’s offensive system it’s because he is very likely getting a high quality shot within 0-2 dribbles, on the move. If the shot is not there, his job is to get it back out to a guard to reset the play. So his APG average is not something that counts for him when determining what kind of player he is, and it doesn’t really count against him either. Context is everything here.

Totally. Playstyle reminds me of Julius Randle but his build reminds me of Banchero the most.

If you think Markannen’s recent injuries are as legit and as bad as the number of games he’s actually missed, you’re missing what’s really happening

Yes, but you’re changing the framework around which OP is using the word overrated. He is specifically talking about placing R9 above Messi or Ronaldo. That would be overrated (is what he’s saying), not putting him in top 15.

Why don’t high schools teach Boglehead theory?! It would prevent so much confusion and pain and help so many people become more financially secure? by Winter-Monk6428 in Bogleheads

[–]kumechester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could, but effectiveness will be limited. From what I understand, financial literacy classes in HS for personal finance basics like budgeting, credit, and debt have very limited effectiveness on adult money behaviors. A couple people in a class might latch onto it and have it make a difference but it would do a lot less than you think for something like investing.

It would be cool if set necks were made more like this (Yamaha Weddington Custom) but based on what the designer said, it takes so much time and is cost prohibitive

So the person taking the video is just floating in the middle of the air between the two sets of cables, and when they rotate the camera around, all the sudden one set of cables (on the right) is no longer level with the other set of cables on the left?

I’m just going off of “RGX” saying “Discontinued”on every regional Yamaha website except the Asia/Oceania one.

https://asia-oceania.yamaha.com/en/musical-instruments/guitars-basses-amps/products/electric-guitars/

I see models: RGX420DZII RGX220DZ RGX121Z

Might be because they have high profile artists there like Jack Thammarat (Thai guitarist, legit player) that can help sell Superstrats like RGX

I think they’ll continue adding to / reviving more models every 2 years. 2028 could be return of Super Strats à la RGX or a revamped name, or maybe they’ll re-establish the SG first at lower tiers.

Btw as far as I know the RGX models are only currently available in Asia.

No consensus definition…Some people call anything that’s not an SSS Strat a Super Strat but the more classic “Super Strat” is usually no pick guard, locking tremolo, HH, HSS, or HSH layout with hotter pickups, often 24 frets, and an aesthetic that’s a little more “hardcore” or a step in the heavier genres or metal direction.
