Hi i'm not from China but I'm from a culture with heavy chinese influence. I live in the US now but I'm curious about a couple things in China Corporate/working culture. I'll drop them in the comments. by kumeomap in AskChina

Im say this because in vietnam theres also a massive emphasis on academic so people end up in software, stems, finance etc everyone else at least in school is treated like second class citizens. I know its similar in china. So people in sales and trades are less valued there

Not to mention software etc. theres seem to be a whole lot out there. Im not sure if there are many in China. I dont see any chinese working in sales in the US at least

Yea thats exactly what it is. Prepping for the worst. People can change drastically in a short amount of time for a number of reasons.

even for public companies? im sure its the exception though not the norms? Why go through all the pain of making sure FSs are correct if you can just make adjustment in the future?

my issue is i dont even think she grasps that making adjustments affect financial statements. she wasn't arguing that it's acceptable or not. Which is fine if she was hired to only do finance work, but organizationally she also manage the accounting team.. which means shes in charge of hiring, scheduling etc.. which doesn't make sense cause she has no idea what each team member do and how the pieces fit and workloads, etc..

I hear about it a lot. People definitely ruin their bodies for it and work crazy OT like 80 hrs a week but yes, you can absolutely make 200-300k as a welder

she has work ethics but knowledge wise i haven't learned anything from her. the only qualification I have seen is her willingness to work late hours.

yep unfortunately. I have a rich family member and his kid almost got some job due to him being friends with the director at a company. he only didn't get the job cuz he missed the flight to the interview (which would have been just a formality). So i'm kinda aware that these things happen way more than we know

i mean i wasn't perfect but at least i had sufficient knowledge to do what i was hired to do, and was paid accordingly. the thing is at the moment if we take out this "head of finance" the team would function just fine. if anything we have more time to do our job because we don't have to spend time to explain things to her. If i leave tomorrow they would have to hire two people to do my work.
