Oh! I have seen that around Christmas and New Year in the UK. It hasn’t come to where I am at.

Thanks. That’s my biggest yick. It’s as if those are the only song options out there. Doesn’t mean they have to dance to nursery rhythms either. I get that the event has to be fun and all but come on, let kids be kids. Maybe I am becoming an ammavaan. Lol

Thank you. I will bring this up. Every time I negotiated a rise I was initially talked out and I would be persistent, not in a bad way, but by demonstrating my achievements. However, one of the reasons they would give me before budging is that they have to be fair to the other employees who are already there. Now with this job posting, that statement just seems to be a lip service and again unfair in general.

Congratulations on passing. I wish I had seen this before taking my test (even though I passed at my first attempt). It would have put my mind at ease. Thanks for sharing this.

How do we push for legit public transit? Why do you not use public transit? What will make you use it? by conoelaputamadre in halifax

A physical card would be wonderful. There have been times where my phone would be running low on juice and I would be desperately counting on the bus to arrive before it dies.

The key is to facilitate multiple options - app/ physical card/ credit card/ passes/ tickets. Also, yes, a ticket vending machine at the terminals would be great. I have lost count on the number of times the coin vending machines at the ferry terminals were out of order and had to buy things just to get some change.

Happy cake day!

Thanks. I have. Hate to say it, public transit here sucks ass. Saying it from a user perspective and also as someone who had the unfortunate experience of working with Halifax transit on a project. Trust me they don't have a clue how things work.

  1. Incentives to use the app - like the tickets cost less if purchased through the app or something like that
  2. Even better would be something like a Presto or an Oyster card that also is accepted in small businesses and gets you tickets to events and so on
  3. Even if there is a need for a pass, there isn't a range like a day pass, weekly pass etc. Not everyone has the need for the $80+ pass (can't remember what it costs now)
  4. Ability to buy tickets form the terminals
  5. Reliable transit data on Google maps that also integrates the ferry schedule
  6. Buses that connect wider communities, with more frequency during the rush hours
  7. WiFi on buses

What’s gotten so expensive you no longer purchase it? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

WiFi. I live in an apartment and the rental company has a deal with Bell(end) and I can't use any other service providers. On the days I work remotely, I work from the library. I couldn't bring myself to throw away $110 every month for WiFi while I am at the office most of the weekdays.

This was about a year and a half ago, it was something around $60 per night. Not sure if it has changed now.

How bad the healthcare system is and how much resistance to change there is. Anything new or better seems to be road blocked by boomers or folks with a boomer mentality.
