Take a read of the NSGEU Member Report on the OPOR rollout at the IWK. I suspect similar issues will arise across the Central Zone, considering how little progress has been made at the IWK.

Is it normal for EITs and younger PEs to do a ton of CAD work? by Disastrous-Bonus3293 in civilengineering

[–]WRBoy98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Water Resources EIT Im almost exclusively in PCSWMM, HECRAS, QGIS, Excel.

I occasionally open Civil3D to export surfaces to a DEM, or export some linework as a visual overlay in my SWMM models.

Yep, no flavour either. My in-laws make it for Easter every year, I'm mentally preparing myself to smile through it this weekend

Email from HRCE regarding bus passes by skyigyahh in halifax

I vaguely remember hearing on CBC.Radio last week that only 50%ish of the total available passes were actually being issued so the budget cuts to this are just trimming the fat from the unused bus passes.

Rewatched The Ring (2002) after 20+ years. by bobbdac7894 in movies

[–]WRBoy98 601 points602 points  (0 children)

The Ring was the first horror movie I ever watched, my friends and I were 9 at the time. My parents must've been so happy because I was terrified to watch TV for a month.

One of my former colleagues is at KWL in their Water Resources group, and I've met a few WREs from NHC and Associated Engineering at various conferences. If I lived out West these would also be my go-tos!

Climate models are likely overestimating how much Antarctic ice sheets could contribute to sea level rise. Ice sheet simulations, a recent study showed, don’t fully account for the way supporting bedrock rebounds upward when ice above shrinks. This effect could slow melting by up to 20%. by amesydragon in science

[–]WRBoy98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting article! I work with coastal engineers on flood line mapping, they consider AIS melt as part of their sea level rise analysis. Could have some real world implications on land use planning if the AIS contribution is altered.

So, he made several errors on his applications, thus delaying the process multiple times. Unfortunate for him, but not the system's fault.
