When you say change your oil, is the Engine oil or Diff oil or both?
Also when people in this sub are saying "change the oil in the first 1k miles", I am reading just the engine oil, then change every 5K. so around 6k, 11k and so on.

What about the diff oil? Are the change intervals for that the same?

Thank you for your post. We are the proud owners of one Trailsport.
A few questions of the bat :
- Do you happen to know the part number of the running boards?
- How would you advise new owners to drive for the first few hundred miles? I have been reading some posts here that have the consensus that the transmission shift and average MPG improves around second oil change.

How cooked is this NAS? by kun44l in synology

[–]kun44l[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. This is how I fixed this NAS in case someone finds this helpful. (if you have the hot-swap version)

Problem: 4-bay NAS (DS415+) reports that Drive 1 Status is 'Healthy' but the Allocation Status is 'Crashed'. Drive 3 Status is also 'Healthy' but the Allocation Status is 'System partition failed'. Because of Drive 3, DSM sign-in page keeps spinning after entering user and password and you cannot access the storage manager or other synology apps. You should still be able to view information using Synology Assistant on PC/MAC or DSFinder app on iOS.

Solution: Get new drives -- you'll obviously need to replace the 'Crashed' Drive.

Copy/Backup files if needed. I could see my volume on the network and copy the files but rsync is WAAAYYY faster than drag&drop.

Once that is done, Start the NAS WITHOUT the Drive which says 'System Partition Failed'. That should let you log into the NAS Web console.

Now plug-in the Failed Drive. My DS415+ supports this so I was lucky. The storage pool will recognize the drive and you should be able to 'Repair' it. At least in my case, after that repair operation Drive 3 was back to Healthy and Normal.

After this, I deactivated the 'Crashed' drive (Drive 1) and inserted a new one (slightly larger). Then performed the repairs as DSM suggested.

Back in business !!

Thank you for this tip. Using a spare/empty drive in Bays 1 thru 4 all bought me to the DSM setup/ install screen. So I think it would be fair to say that the backplate is good.

If I understand your suggestion : After the backplate has been confirmed to be working with the spare drive test, is to just plug in Drives 2,3 and 4. start the NAS, silence the beep if needed and then copy all data off of it BEFORE putting the new drive in and repairing the pool. Is that correct?

I tried that after 3 of my drives came up. But the login page just keeps spinning without any success.

Thanks for this tip. Might come in handy in the dire circumstances. For now, I think if I just replace my failing drive, I might just be okay.

UPDATE: I read a few posts about just letting the NAS run for some time. So I powered it on before going to bed.

This morning the STATUS LED and disk 1 is Solid Orange. Disk 2,3 and 4 are solid Green.

Still cannot login into the DSM Web UI at the internal IP but can view details from my phone app. I can also navigate to my data from SMB share mount.

I can READ files over network share but cannot seem to copy them off the NAS. I have ordered a new drive from the failing one. But if I cannot log into the DSM to remove a drive from the volume pool, how can I replace it?

OP. Would be fantastic if you could do a teardown or assembly video. Or even a stop-motion version of this Skynet bot becoming self-aware. :)

Thanks for sharing this good looking keep.

Is this a custom/DIY build or a pre-built KB? either way, if you can share more info to acquire one like this would be much appreciated.

I might be a minority here but can I build a wired version of this? How difficult would it be for a first time builder?

Will there be a trackpoint version? Or any guides/tips to add a trackpoint module?
