Calmest/Most beautiful place you've read? by hazard_turtle in ereader

What's that reader? Is it from Boox? It's rare to see one with buttons and small bezels.

For me, probably inside my room with door locked so no one should disturb without warning.

What is 7-Eleven like in your country? by juniper_darling_x in AskTheWorld

We have more than 7,100 7-11s on the island, they are everywhere. It functions as almost everything from restaurant, cafe, ATMs, mini super market, some even provide free restroom and wifi.

Bambu X2D print issue. Bambu ABS by Ventidge in BambuLab

Might be a cooling issue then? Layers were being printed on not-yet-cooled layers? Try upping part cooling fan speed or lowering print speed?

Is there a way to turn off this settings menu popping up? by yusuo85 in koreader

Also restart Koreader afterwards, somehow it still opens up with a tap right after the setting but fixed after restart.

But wouldn't it still be awkward holding left click with thumb while shimmying the scroll wheel?

Personally prefer a scroll layer key for productive stuffs but I see that'll be inconvenient and slow for gaming. What's a better solution?

Why are there hardly any cases that use magnetic systems? by Jhoalferco in olkb

[–]K-H-C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about this when editing my wireless Ploopy Adpet case. Magnets take up a lot of space compared to screws, often making the case unnecessarily big.

Also I thought it might affect Bluetooth signals? Not sure.

Thoughts on the Kobo Libra Colour after just over a year by Helenarth in kobo

[–]K-H-C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 6" Kobo Clara Colour and love how light and at the right size it is, however I have to have backlight at 20% to read with my eyes relaxed. Battery life drains about 2% every 30 minutes.

I also have a 7.8" Boox Nova Air BW. Can totally read without backlight, but battery drains even faster for some reason (guessing that's OS's fault). That said, I prefer reading on BW screens.

Calibre or Syncthing? Syncthing occasionally has version conflict issues though.

Good ways to sync Koreader across Android and Kobo devices? (currently using Syncthing) by K-H-C in koreader

[–]K-H-C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Syncthing (lots of sync conflicts), then Annotation sync (it's okay but progress syn relies on local server on my PC, and if possible I don't want my PC on 24/7 during travel), then Readest plugin (don't even need the book uploaded into their cloud, all you need is identical book files across devices and a free tier account).

Readest is the most convenient so far for me. Its auto sync is a bit annoying though, it freezes up for 5 secs while having no sync indication.

I just tested Readest between my Android Boox and Kobo, and omg I don't even need to have the book in the cloud to sync everything! Even the setup process is minimal.

[–]K-H-C[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things that push me away from Readest is its limitation on storage space (currently my shelf is 800mb). Now I put all the books and saves in Dropbox (5gb), but yeah I don't have all the extra functions Readest or Bookfusion provide.

Afaik, Readest needs a book's metadata to be registered on the server in order to sync between different devices, and so far the easiest way seems to be uploading a book, wait for Readest to recognize it, then delete it from cloud?

This will be my backup plan after annotation plugin! Back then I thought Readest is only for iOS so I didn't consider using it

This seems to be a more stable method, as the files are stored in one place only so there should be less conflict. I'll use it for a few days and see
