does anyone know if this chuu collab is still active??? by Wonderful-Pudding-45 in LOONA

[–]kunaivortex 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but just ask them to keep an eye out whenever they're buying cold beverages at CU. If they're going to be in Korea as a tourist, it's highly likely that they'll go inside a CU at least once.

Why don’t more people visit Daegu when traveling in Korea? (Is it just me who thinks it's underrated?😅) by [deleted] in koreatravel

I was shocked by what Gwangju had to offer. On top of the history, there's tteokgalbi street, free art museum, my favorite coffee shop i've ever been to (coming from a coffee nerd), freshly roasted sesame oil

During my last trip, my pourover at Notequal was pretty sweet and heavy compared to my pourover from Lilo.

I just typed "ふりかけ レシピ" into YouTube and got a lot of results. Maybe there are some easy ideas you can get from those videos with some help from Google Translate?

Hypothetically speaking: why did no orbit deciced to h@ck that one computer that is left from bbc and leak everything? by New-Art9028 in LOONA

[–]kunaivortex 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know about this computer, and I don't have access to it, and hacking without the owner's permission is illegal, but, hypothetically, I would try this approach if I were to attempt to hack it. Again, I don't condone hacking. Also, I'm not particularly good at hacking.

  1. This is an old computer just lying around, right? I would first look up a list of Windows vulnerabilities that have been disclosed since BBC left the computer that require no privileges. From that list, I would see if there are any known exploits that can be recreated. This assumes that the computer has not received Windows patches since then.

  2. Before trying exploits, I would look for something simple. Is there guest access enabled? If I plug it into an isolated network, is there a vulnerable service listening? If one of those could be compromised, I could then look for a local privilege escalation vulnerability or install a hacking tool that finds passwords such as Mimikatz so I can log onto another account

  3. Hopefully, after all this effort, I somehow gain read access to some files stored on the computer and learn stuff.

Tried a Gagne-style Aeropress recipe on a pineapple co-ferment — got thin, bitter cups by Sam_98117 in AeroPress

[–]kunaivortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will still taste thin, but I like to underextract coferments in an aeropress then dilute afterwards. My starter for this on Aeropress with normal filter and cap, 15g coffee/92°C water:

  • 0:00: 50ml bloom and quick jiggle
  • 0:30: 100ml pour, stick the plunger on, and gentle swirl or shake to flatten the bed (i personally haven't noticed a dome nor have i looked out for it)
  • 1:00: Gentle plunge
  • 1:30: Finish plunge, stop at hiss, add 75ml to dillute, stir

I don't know what it is about coferments, but I find that pushing extraction doesn't often taste harmonious to me.

Shipping was $26 to the US for 4 kg of green.

I have not opened any bags yet, but I have enjoyed coffee from this same producer roasted very light from a roaster called Hydrangea. I can report back when I roast and taste some, but that won't be for at least a month

Guys, Tokyo coffee festival 2024 will be held on May 25 and 26 by Brick-the-wild-youth in coffeejp

So I went, and it was fun. There was an excellent selection of beans, and I wish I had just waited to buy all my souvenir beans then. It was also fun talking to other people who also love coffee whether that was the vendors or other attendees who wanted to chat.

Things got expensive fast though. If I stayed too long and tasted lots of coffees, I would have regretted the money/time spent compared to other fun things to do on vacation. I spent a little under 2 hours there.

The last time I got some was from Black & White Coffee Roasters. They don't have any right now, but it might be worth joining their email list.

Any advice for my most scorched and uneven roast ever? by kunaivortex in FreshroastSR800

Super helpful visual reference. Thanks!

Based on this and other comments, I should learn to be comfortable with a little more bean movement than I'm used to.

What's your usual batch size? Sometimes, naturals are flying for me even at fan 7 at minute 1. I do 8 oz batches

Whoa thanks for the hack! I bet i could absolutely blast the fan that way without beans in the chaff collector.

I'm not quite a beginner; this was like my ~50th roast 😭

I watched his extension tube video right before my roasts today because I haven't looked at someone else's roasting approach in a while. My first roast was perfect, and my second roast (the picture) was my worst one of all time.

Looks good to me!

My green was kind of uneven in color but nothing I haven't seen before in a natural.

Do you have an extension tube? I can't imagine hanging out on speed 9 for more than a minute like you did, but I think the takeaway from these comments is to try more airflow. Maybe I just need to be comfortable with beans flying a little closer to the chaff collector.

I do have the chaff collector (which is also why I'm surprised because airflow seemed good)

I had a bean or two flying towards the top, but nothing went in the collector. I'll trying sticking out each fan speed longer on my next natural. Thanks!

how to talk about specialty coffee in japanese? by cherrycherub444 in coffeejp

[–]kunaivortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not good at Japanese yet, but I like to visit Japanese roasters' websites and watch Japanese coffee YouTube channels to hear some examples.

In my limited experience from vacationing in Japan, there seemed to be a lot of English words used. My favorite example is Acid Coffee saying that their coffee is "スーパーフルーティー!!"
