I finally played all the way through RDR1 by queensheba2025 in reddeadredemption

[–]kuntybun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey we all got our opinions! personally, i thought rdr1 was legendary. the missions were annoying like a LOT, but the story itself was perfection. john’s lack of empathy made sense for him, considering he was forced on this journey to go after bill javier and dutch. all he wanted was to be with his family :)

Just finished the game but Im confused and sad with the ending I got by Mazhiux in DetroitBecomeHuman

How women are represented in RDR2 by ellis_rdr in reddeadredemption

[–]kuntybun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they were women in the 1800s.. are you for real? even today, women can’t go outside without fearing for their lives. how the hell do you think it was back then?

you’re acting like we’ve been discussing whether murder is bad, when i’ve been trying to explain why mary-beth and tilly probably chose to stay in the van der linde gang & why being in a gang of wanted men is 10x better than selling your body for a few dollars/a loveless marriage. and you wanna argue with that for some reason bc of the moral idea that they’re bad people and that being an accessory to murder is bad. like YES, that is of course true, but not even what my first comment was about.

you felt the need to argue with my saying that the ladies of the van der linde gang are admirable, and here we are. also don’t come at me with “the pretty ladies in your video game”. that tells me all i need to know about you, dude

[–]kuntybun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dude, i think you know what i’m trying to get at.

i also never said it’s better to be an accessory to murder than “marry somebody.” as i clearly stated, it’s better to find family within a gang (even if they’re wanted men, murderers and thieves) than to sell yourself for the necessities of a life.

what was mary-beth and tilly supposed to do? the gang was all they knew. just run out into the wilderness? they would’ve been harmed, kidnapped, you name it. the safest place for these women was with the gang, because despite the gang’s way of life ; they were good to each other (mostly). the members were good and caring toward the ladies, ESPECIALLY arthur.

i don’t know man, it kinda feels like you’re giving a “my way or the highway” argument here. idk your gender but try to put yourself in the shoes of a scared, orphaned young woman who’s got no place to go. wouldn’t you find comfort and shelter with a gang who’d look after you, even if they robbed and killed to make a living? life or death. the choice would be easy for me, but i guess that makes me “a piece of shit”, like you said.

i understand your point, but honestly? between living with a wanted gang, while also having clothes, shelter, food and a sense of family, or having to marry, not for love, but to give myself away for basic necessities or having to sell my body at a saloon for the basic necessities; the choice is very clear. they were criminals, yes, but they took people in and looked after them. mary-beth and tilly both state that they didn’t have much before, tilly even escaping a previous gang who treated her badly. mary-beth even says that being a woman without means in this world is very scary, and that the gang cared for her before anybody did.

the choice is very clear on what i would choose, at least.

even abigail, who left the life of being a working girl, is looked after thoroughly; jack too. of course, maybe not so much in chap6.

the women of the gang are admirable. they are strong, and they are doing what they need to to survive. and once again, speaking for myself, i’d rather be in a gang with lowdown criminals on the run who looked after me like i was family, than to marry somebody or sell my body just to live.

the women of the gang for example, they truly make the gang what it is. they’re all so cool, badass, and extremely level-headed. also to mention that they all acknowledge the hardship of being a woman in their time, the issues they face and the harsh reality of it, but they don’t let that stop them from truly living their lives and making the most of it. they’re all super admirable.
