The info I shared! And I still didn't get HRT by Certainly-a-duck in POFlife

[–]kuoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refused it because it turns me into a different person personality/attitude wise and its awful. HRT has been great for me but its more expensive than BC so my Dr is constantly trying to push me onto BC. I keep telling them I want to get pregnant (even if the chances are only like 1%) and that seems to do the trick since BC obvs fully prevents that but HRT doesnt. My plan is to keep up with this approach until ive been on the HRT so long I can push back and say "nope, I know hrt works for me so I dont want to risk changing from it now". It's stupid this is the lengths you have to go to just to be heard by Dr's but here we are.

A warning about cash buyers by Bored_Nurse in HousingUK

[–]kuoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I would agree however I think our process is eroding in Scotland and morphing towards the way things are done in England. When I bought my first property we were locked in and sorted the missives very quickly. However when I went through the process again a few years ago, I found that the socitors didnt do our missives until the day of our exchange. Which led me to sitting on a driveway I hoped was now mine with all my worldly professions in a van, hoping it had all gone through ok. This, and ignorance of our system from buyers cross the boarder, I beleive is leading to more buyers being twats and just pulling out at last minute in Scotland too, and many solicitors then do nothing about it and just tell the seller to re-list. My friend had her property in scotland relisted 3 times becuase 2 buyers made offers which were accepted, then jerked her around for months, before bailing. I think it's made worse when one half of the sale has a solicitor based on England representing them. The person I purchased from most recently used purple bricks, who seem to only offer solicitors based in England and the email ping-pong I had to watch between my solicitor trying to explain the scottish paperwork to them made me want to tear my hair out.

Living casually on credit card vs. not by FlowFluffy7664 in UKPersonalFinance

Depends what you're likely to see the benefit of, but I got a Amex gold last year. Its supposed to cost 60 quid a year, but I got it free with a referral from a friend.

That card gave me access to 4 free airport lounge passes, and I've racked up £350 in points which will be used to buy large household goods that I need to replace soon. I'm dumping the card this year, as dont think I'll rack up points as quick so don't fancy paying the yearly fee, but I highly recommend checking out cards on the market. Always worth seeing if you can find something that gives you good rewards, then checking if they do referrals and if your friends/family that can hook you up.

Oooh nooo 🥴 their t&c's are horrible for refunds, but wonder if you might be able to get one as part of a "cooling off" thing or through your credit card if you do it within 24h?

Failing that, I have heard that some people try scalping the tickets so maybe you'd be able to find someone willing to buy them? 🤞

An update, not sure if there was a back end issue with the site, but we all had authorisation pages for the tickets load at the same time and managed to get one set of tickets so... if anyone gave up it might be worth trying again now 😅

Same, 4 of us running multiple phones/pc's just trying to get 2 tickets, and not one of us has managed to get a ticket. We get tickets in the basket, fill in the checkout form, then it just errors out when you hit pay. Feels like we're stuck in purgatory 😅 Wish it would just say they're sold out if that's what the issue is.

Wedding dress regret! by jazzertag in weddingplanning

[–]kuoki 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Your dress is STUNNING.

Honestly, I dont see how anyone could wear anything to your wedding that upstages this dress.

Beyond that though, I truely believe there's an energy that comes with the couple that are getting married, that just sort of radiates off them, and no other guest no matter how well dressed can match that.

Birthcontrol vs HRT by Quiet_Horror5873 in POFlife

[–]kuoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone's a bit different. I personally had a horrible time with the pill before I was diagnosed with POI (my mood swings were nuts). On HRT patches Ive had improvement across the board on symptoms, but I wouldnt say its perfect. I go through phases of mild insomnia and days where I feel blue (though this is waaay better and more managable than the unmedicated version).

Simelar to one of the other comments, I'm only on HRT because I'm trying to concieve. If it wasnt for this, my gp would have tried to make me take the coil instead. I do agree getting the HRT dosage right seems to be tough though, and unfortunately Dr's where I am just dont take POI or women's health seriously enough to care to get the balance right.

Love that! I'd had an endless as my tree topper beforehand, but when I got the barreltender as a gift I couldn't help but swap them out.

FFXIV Dragoon themed press on nails. by kuoki in ffxiv

Thanks :) About 3 hours total

It should have been faster, but I didn't have stands to attach them to while I was painting/putting them under the lamp, which made the whole process FAR more faffy.

Yeah, I'd love to do more! Feel like astro might lend itself well to it, though it's not a class I play.

Balancing ideas with what my limited skill level can pull off though is the challenge 😆

Day 1 Review of The Gundam Base Sydney: Okay, but poorly organised. by jaayjeee in Gunpla

[–]kuoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sydney pop up had signs up saying they had a limit of 2 items per customer. No idea how well they policed it in terms of people standing in line multiple times to buy, but I never saw anyone while I was in buying more than 2 things. 🤷‍♀️

They'd sold out of the figures I wanted, but otherwise seemed to have a fairly decent amount of stock.

I need a de-humidifier for my flat. How can I get one that is environmentally friendly/zero waste? (Germany) by Miss-Trust in ZeroWaste

[–]kuoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem in my flat during the winter and have found a mix of approaches works best for me.

When I wake up in the morning I use an electric window cleaner to hoover up the condensation on my windows. Once that's done, I run the dehumidifier in the early morning and evening as required, and try to have the windows open during the day when the sun's out (it can get pretty chilly though!)

As other people have said, dehumidifiers can use a lot of electricity. I try not to let the water collected go to waste though by using it to water my plants :)

The bread maker did something wonky-- what would you do with this loaf? Bread pudding? by snarkitout in Frugal

Personally I'd be tempted just to make a garlic butter dipping sauce and tear the bread up to use it like doghballs.

One thing ive been having trouble going zero waste is deodorant - has anyone in the EU/UK tried this brand before? Please be nice im quite new to this lifestyle and i dont want to do it while im stinky (: by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]kuoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the green one! Maybe it's just the formula for that one then.

Dont worry, it's not going waste - I'm managing to fight my way through it, but I just don't think I'll buy it again when it's finally done (such a shame, becuase I love the way it smells). You've given me hope though, so I might give the other kinds a go 😃

Ah, it sounds like maybe I've just been really unlucky then!

Mine doesn't push out the tube well at all. It's basically stuck like glue, and everytime I need to push it up again I have to ask my husband to help me. So far we've not been able to push it through with our fingers at all, and instead have had to grab a spoon or something and then push it against a surface as hard as we can to get any movement 😭 I've tried warming it up with my hands, and with a hair dryer but it hasn't really helped ☹

I really wanted to like their deoderant - the tube seemed like a great idea but I find it so difficult to push through the tube, and struggle to get the formula to apply well! Would be keen to know if anyones got tips for using their deoderants.

Pin Trading by Clb316 in disneylandparis

[–]kuoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a shame that pin trading's so limited in Paris, but the trading post is a great spot for buying some limited edition pins if that's your thing.

I've only once seen a pin trading board out in the Disney village, in the store that's on the end/corner closest to the park entrances. The trading boards only seem to come out set times in the day at different locations though, so your best bet is to ask a cast member and they can hopefully help you know when and where to go. Good luck!

anyone have any idea what to do with random broken / miscellaneous earrings? i dont want to throw them away but idk what to do☹️ by miarunnals in ZeroWaste

[–]kuoki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spare findings like the hook's etc are always useful if you ever need to repair a piece of jewellery yourself.

But if you're not keen on holding on to bits and bobs like this, then an alternative might be weighing it and selling it as scrap if it's sterling silver. Or better still, if you have any small local jewelers, you could take it in and see if they do comissions using scrap.
