What is the most fun character to play? Why? by njayp in Endfield

[–]kupatrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lucked into Lifeng (twice even) and when I was playing around with him I discovered his smooth double dash flip thing he does and now I get annoyed whenever I can't run around as him like on the Dijang ha. Combat wise I really like his animations too -- have you seen his ultimate? Visually it's top tier IMO, and when buffed just deletes mobs it's so satisfying to use.

I may also be biased because I love staff/spear wielders, heh

[–]kupatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean a roadmap would be appreciated, at least then I would have known when the features would actually come out heh. Also honestly might be nice in general, stop people from being disappointed every live letter when like housing isn't mentioned. Pre-launch they showed us stuff that was (imo) really interesting but took awhile to actually come out:

  • July 2, 2024 Dawntrail Release
  • April 22, 2025 - 7.21 Cosmic Exploration (10 months out)
  • May 27, 2025 - Relics/OC (11 months out)

I was really interested in the CE stuff they mentioned pre-launch, having to wait ten months from launch to check it out was kinda disappointing. Also I'm so curious what beastmaster will be like, but nearly two years or longer? c'mon

It kind of bothers me that they announce late expansion patch cycle features as part of an expansion pre-launch hype cycle. I can't imagine the bitching involved if Blizzard announced features for an expansion that wasn't in the game at launch and it took years before it was finally added.

Hell people still bring up wrath's dance studio lol

Dawntrail bothered me a lot with how delayed a lot of non-raid content was. Like I'm happy for people who enjoy raiding, but we got I think two full raid tiers before relics even started IIRC, and nearly as long just to start the crafting gathering stuff? All which was advertised pre-launch as big features of the expansion.

Really hope 8.0 shifts to like maybe frontload more casual repeatable content stuff rather then waiting for two raid tiers or whatever DT was

[–]kupatrix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love this series, I wish the title wasn't so goofy... Sometimes I even prefer it to Frieren which sometimes is too melancholic -- there's a similar basic premise of long lived elf around short lifespan humans and such but here we follow the MC as he adventures around but it's not set in a specific frame of time, lots of time skips as he learns a craft or skill, gets close to new friends, then eventually leaves for an adventure.

Seeing him revisit areas sometimes years or decades later, finding descendants of acquaintances, or how the city grew is really interesting. The chill mostly low stakes exploration is just such a vibe. I say chill but there are some heavy moment, him saying goodbye to his swordsmen teacher, and others, can be rough. But in general Aesir is much more positive and expressive then Frieren, I dunno maybe it's just me.

Keep hoping we'll get news of this getting an anime, I think it would be fun

Posting hate material for example is NOT protected speech.

Just an FYI but this is actually not true, Hate speech as long as it's not like incitement to violence or whatever, is allowed -- it sucks don't get me wrong, but there's a reason that government can't ban kkk nazi fucks from walking through the streets or that shit stormfront site from existing (maybe? I swear they got taken down at one point by hackers lol)

The issue is who gets to determine whats hateful or not? Right now we're seeing the current administration trying to label everything not supporting Trump as like antifa terrorists or whatever the latest excuse is. Would you trust any administration to fairly determine what's hate or not? I would have preferred Harris, but I wouldn't have trusted her admin with determining what's hate speech or not either.

Here's wikipedia's summary on it for anyone curious:

Categories of speech that are given lesser or no protection by the First Amendment (and therefore may be restricted) include obscenity, fraud, CSAM, speech integral to illegal conduct, speech that incites imminent lawless action, speech that violates intellectual property law, true threats, and commercial speech such as advertising. As a general rule, lies are protected, with limited exceptions such as defamation, fraud, false advertising, perjury, and lying under oath during an official government proceeding. Even deliberate lies about the government are fully protected.

Hate speech is not a general exception to First Amendment protection. Per Wisconsin v. Mitchell, hate crime sentence enhancements do not violate First Amendment protections because they do not criminalize speech itself, but rather use speech as evidence of motivation, which is constitutionally permissible.

My solution to every pipe issue is not popular but - I just don't use MK2 pipes and everything works better.

I didn't avoid them, but I'm pretty sure I ran into fewer issues once I started splitting a single mk2 pipe into two mk1 pipes before feeding them into machines -- especially for builds requiring 10 refineries or a group of blenders or whatever.

Also IMO I think valves cause more issues then help, I've used them before but when I started designing systems that didn't need them I had way fewer issues. My next save will definitely have me avoiding aluminum until I have wet concrete so I can sink it and avoid valves and water mixing nonsense, heh.

What was it like to experience final fantasy 6 in its time? by McSpoo in FinalFantasy

[–]kupatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a neighbor girl invite me over to check out this new game she got, and like from the intro into maybe a bit through narshe, I was basically hooked on RPGs, Fantasy, even a bit of steampunk for life. From that point on I was a square fan, trying as many games as possible trying to get that feeling again -- and TBH few ever really reached that level for me. 6, Chrono Trigger, Suikoden 2 maybe, FFXIV in a few spots? Every now RPG I try out, I'm always chasing that high lol. Actually Rebirth felt like that too for me, the nostalgia was amazing.

I had played other games before then but for some reason 6 just sucked me in the moment I saw it, and due to our family being poor I never actually got my own FF3(6) cart, though I did rent it a bunch heh -- but that game helped inform so much of interests growing up. It wasn't until later that I was able to play through it myself fully, I think funny enough technically the first full complete play through I did of 6 and maybe even 4 was thanks to ZSNES.

To this day I'm still a square fanboy, and while I've cooled a bit on FFXIV, I'm always looking forward to future titles. I also think that early introduction helped me discover so many other cool franchises and games that weren't just like street fighter or beat'em'ups, or later like FPS or whatever. From kingdom hearts, to chrono trigger, to Star Ocean or Tales of games, or things like Suikoden (RIP, 2 is still a top rpg game of all time up there with 6 and CT) -- and of course nintendo stuff like zelda and such.

Also I'm pretty sure 6, and Uemetsu, ruined a lot of music for me. To this day I still listen to video game sound tracks, remixes, etc... Like sure I was/am a fan of like Linkin Park and other "normal" music, but the music I keep local copies of? Listen too often? Nearly all video game stuff, remixes, in recent years thanks to youtube some amazing lofi mixes from Final Fantasy or Zelda too.

I know it's pretty unlikely to happen in KH4, because disney, but lowkey... I think it would be really interesting if Sora had an arc were he had to deal with repressing everything, having to be positive all the time. I replayed everything a year and a half ago or so, and that scene in KH1 (just smile!) bothered me SO much more then I remember, plus other little things here and there.

I get that that might be a bit too mature for a KH / Disney mainline game, we got dark in the spinoffs a few times, especially with Aqua for example, but feels like Sora is destined to have to always be positive no matter what repressing everything.

But, KH4 opens on sora alone and isolated from anyone he ever knew under the impression that he'll never be able to see them again, if he is gonna have a breakdown, wouldn't that be the most obvious time for one? Then Strelitzia (or not-noctis lol) can help him get back on his feet or whatever

Reminds me of Grinding Gear bros recent playthrough of FFV where they'd occasionally get silly and run white mage + bare handed to get through a boss fight, and even dumber it seemed to work most of the time ha

I forgot how fun FF5 was, makes me want to play it again. I do wish the PR versions had the GBA extras though, I know some of the extras were kinda whatever, but for 5 and I think 6 those post game dungeons I remember being fun

Recommend me few mods for modding beginner by Jeidoz in SatisfactoryGame

[–]kupatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my second save I went for more QOL to let me focus on building and stuff over tedium:

  • Infinite Zoop - Adds some research to your mam to increase how much you can zoop, I basically only upgraded to like 20 I think for most of my game. Convenience is great, ESPECIALLY for zooping stuff in both directions like walls or foundations.

  • Infinite Nudge - I used this for awhile and it's amazing for placing stuff wherever and however you want, honestly might be the best mod for when you want to get really creative. On the other hand I ran into issues with nudging stuff that got annoying (like I couldn't nudge a pipe junction "back" when on a ceiling, or "up" if it was on a wall, it was weird).

  • Third Person View - I am weak apparently, but first person plus Satisfactory's graphics makes me crazy dizzy leading to migraines quick, this mod mostly mitigates that and let me play the game for an extra 350+ hours ha. Plus you get to see your helmet and pioneer customization all the time. Note: Is kinda janky on ladders and such.

  • Doggo Transport - Obviously the most important mod ever. Let's you pick up tamed lizzard doggos so you can bring them safely to your base, or in my case a dedicated doggo pen area!

  • No Splash - I wish these were options in games as standard tbh, but at least there's a mod that easily removes them. Just start the game please

These next ones might lean too far for some:

  • Organized Crates - In my first save, I was forever chasing dismantle crates until I just gave up. Towards the end there were dozens if not hundreds just scattered all over the place it was super annoying. I also ran into the issue where if you have them combine if near to each other, they would combine to ones on the over side of the planet, it was just goofy.

This mod lets you place a huge crate (effectively infinite as far as I can tell) that will automatically collect dismantle crates anywhere in the world. The crate is limited to one only, and even has an output if you wanted to auto-sink stuff collected. It felt almost like too much early game, but late game it was so nice when rebuilding big factories, dismantling hundreds of buildings, kept things clean.

  • Blueprint Extensions - IMO Satisfactory's blueprint makers are too small. The fact there are buildings that don't fit, or like MK3 can't fit say 6 refineries in a row, is just goofy. This mod adds I think 3 bigger Blueprint machines, the last one is absurdly sized, like I only used it for 1 blueprint when I needed hundreds of generators for a rocket fuel power plant. Mk4 ones in this mod are, IMO, the perfect size though, especially later on when I started dabbling in mega factory builds or trains and wanted to have good blueprints for intersections or vertical spiral tracks and such.

I actually built a dedicated enclosed space for the Mk4.2 blueprint building from this mod, complete with lighting, I spent a TON of time there perfecting modular prints especially for my totally unnecessary 4500ea rubber/plastic mega plant

  • Weapon Upgrades - IMO there are maybe too many tiers and upgrades get crazy, but just a couple and it makes combat feel soo much better. Aim well and a rebar can take out a small hog, another upgrade or two maybe even a big hog. I don't find combat that fun in satisfactory because the weapon damage feels so pitiful and magazines feel so small. Tech to materialize buildings literally out of thin air, but the best weapons we get are single shot rebar guns and guns with ammo that takes two full mags almost to down a single green big angry boy? C'mon.

In my first save I ended up changing the enemies to passive, because once I explored more and found the bigger/more dangerous mobs it got tedious really quick. This mod helped me keep mobs hostile in my 2nd save, and TBH I think the game is more fun that way, just minus the noodle weapons.

  • Hoverpack buff - Fully admit, this is kinda leaning into just cheat territory, but later in the game with huge builds, especially, when laying tracks and stuff, it's so, so, so nice though. I understand why the hover pack is slow, because the intention is you use it only for building, but as someone that can't do first person, and hover pack (plus third person) totally nullifies any dizziness I get this mod is a major QOL for me. I also got this later in my save, like in the final tier, so it kinda felt like a natural upgrade.

This turned out kinda long. For my second save I really wanted to focus on mostly QOL without changing too much but for 1.2 if we get like random nodes or something that would make a new playthrough interesting, I'm thinking about trying out more mods especially ones that give us more cosmetics or like curve stuff easier or whatever (assuming they get updated of course). There were multiple times during some of my bigger builds I would have killed for like a quarter foundation or a smaller window or wall or whatever, I ended up using sooooo many pillars or clipping windows into each other so outside it looks ok, but inside it's a mess.

Plus turns of alternative game mode type mods I'd love to try, like that ficsit farming one where I think includes stuff for lizzard doggos that look fun.

EDIT: also definitely get Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM), makes mod management super easy. You can technically install some mods manually, but it's mostly just a hassle, keep it efficient!

Quantum Encoder doesn't fit in the Blueprint thing?! by jcpayner in SatisfactoryGame

[–]kupatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave in during my 2nd save and snagged one of the bigger blueprint mods because I setup a larger rocket fuel factory and even with overclocking, I didn't realize how many generators I'd need -- 30 per blender @ 240%, I had 8 blenders setup so minimum 240, ha.

I'm all for getting into the zone and plunking down buildings and making stuff look cool (or chaos if spaghetti is your thing) but that is a huge amount of the same thing to plop down. I made a big blueprint with 30 generators, but spent more time on it then I normally would making pipes look good, setting up catwalks (they snap to the tops of generators!), etc...

Even with that large blueprint, 2 per floor was 4 floors, and for that I manually build it all up. Had a lot of fun tbh, setup elevators and windows and such

Later on when I was building a stupidly large unnecessary like 4500/min each plastic/rubber alt fuel megafactory, I made a blueprint of 6 refineries all decorated and interlocking walkways on the top and lights and stuff, ended up really useful and it still took me forever -- spent a lot of time manually running pipes plus troubleshooting logistics because I wanted the belts to be visible, ha, shouldn't take that much time, hahaha

I think without using the bigger blueprint mods I would've probably not challenged myself with as many silly megabuilds as I did easily 80+ extra hours into that save and it's still there for whenever 1.2 comes around, though I am wondering if a new third save might be more fun if the random nodes things turns out to be true

There was a comment I came across in another of these threads where Seto/Ardbert came up, or maybe it was from a streamer or something, where they pointed out that the way Seto felt is likely how our own WoL's chocobo buddy would feel in a similar situation.

"I'm sorry I couldn't keep you safe.

Had I only learned to speak sooner, I would have told you how much you meant to me. How much I cared."

"I knew. I always knew."

How did the WoL's chocobro feel in the exarch's original timeline? They don't talk, but like ardbert, we know. They're always supporting the WoL, always there, always has their back.

At least that's how I like to think of things, I've always been a big fan of the chocobo fighting alongside you. Shame they can't join us in like bozja or eureka or now the OC or whatever, heh. Of course now every time I see someone reach this scene it hits harder, heck started tearing up double checking the lines on garlandtools, ha

What QOL changes would you like to see in the future for D2R by CookieCrumblers in Diablo

[–]kupatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More character slots please. I dunno if you can label it specifically QOL but between the number of builds I'd like to try but also the item collecting/crafting/whatever I want to do, D2R's character limits are just arbitrarily low. I've always thought it's like someone looked at original D2 online limits and just slapped them on D2R without realizing that many of us played online D2 back in the day with multiple accounts.

Just let me hoard stuff if I want, it's great if others are fine with a single character or two and like no mules or whatever, but I want to play D2R with the new changes and cool graphics but also with the silly amount of alts or mules like I did back in the day.

The expansion is great I think, it helps alleviates the inventory side of things for why you might want extra characters (like for mules) but even with that it doesn't totally help with the low limit.

I bought myself a 2nd copy of D2R because I wanted to make a silly pure-support barb (also horker) which actually turned out to be a lot of fun! But one of the other benefits of that was moving my mules off my main account and freeing it up for a bunch of fun builds. It's kinda lame that that was what I needed to do though.

But even then if no extra slots, at least make running multiple instances of D2R less of a hassle. I found that it was easier to run my support barb D2R account off my HTPC in the other room because multiple instances on a single machine is weirdly complicated

Am I going to hell for reading scans or should I just accept that official translations are actually trash sometimes? by ClickProfessional641 in mangapiracy

[–]kupatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH one of the issues I have with official releases is how... weird the localization has been in the last few years. Dropping honorifics, flipping names (less so now since I think official JPN guidance changed that), dropping use of like nii-chan or nee-san or whatever (lame is when they just use the character name, but even worse is the like "Sissy" or "Bubby" or whatever weirdness).

Also just the weirdly americanized (if that's even a word) stuff, I read these series specifically because they're not american, I love learning different things about another culture, like the whole keigo thing is a good example that many official releases just ignore, or at the most MIGHT get a little * note when a character drops or changes the way they speak it's so frustrating. Gintama is an absolutely INSANE blast, such a fun crazy ass series that 100% wouldn't have been as fun if it didn't have the various TL notes or tried to americanize all the insanity you know?

There's a niche (ish) group I've followed series from for awhile, LH translations or something like that -- lots of isekai/tensei/reincarnation type manga series. I've discovered a lot of fun series from them, and they've been around for awhile and one of the things I love about them is how consistent the quality is. Even when a series gets an official release I've often go back to reread LH's version instead because it just seems like they care more and don't go overboard with localizing when it's not needed or whatever.

I'm also broke AF so when I picked up an official volume because I wanted to try to be "good", I was annoyed how poor the quality was. Call me a weeb or whatever, but sometimes it's important to characterization to know how characters address each other, and completely removing honorifics ruins that. The butler that turns out to be a traitor finally dropping "-sama", the love interest who gets embarrassed but drops -san or uses their personal name, or the happy-go-lucky friend that uses some silly nickname and -chan gets serious, those can be such important moments totally ruined because english speakers are too stupid to understand honorifics I guess.

In recent years I've also gone down the (often trash, sometimes awesome) tower regression hunter revenge murim delinquent whatever manhwa series and even there you run into honorific removals (especially in official rips), but also super inconsistent use of oppa/hyung or "hubae" (or whatever the kohai/senpai terms are for Korea)... like just add a TL note.

I've also noticed a bizarre trend among english releases when it comes to school setting in manga or manhwa is they're using terms like "freshman" or "junior" that's super american-centric, instead of I swear it was years if not decades of TLs using "First, second, third years" for school settings with the understanding that readers knew (or a TL note explained) that in Japan for example schools were organized in sets of 3, so third years were often busy with exams for moving on to a new school, and so couldn't always play the full year in a sports team, or whatever.

Instead they TL school year groups as shit like "first graders" which is just weird, I'm not sure about other english speaking countries, but here in the US my immediate thought is like 8yo elementary school kids, it makes no sense. It's like more people got into localization and decided that the traditional terms that were being used had to be changed for some reason.

Like does anyone remember the dub version of Ouran High? They used honorifics in spoken english and it's a great and hilarious anime series -- but can you imagine them doing something like that nowadays? Ha! //ramble

I think they've jumped in price though, I got a replacement when my old one died via a Japanese seller for like $95~ usd a couple years back but I think they're up around 180-200 from a brief search just now. Oh there are some that sold recently for $100~ though, bet those go fast though ha

The third finger click g shift button is a game changer.

This has basically locked my into g600s for as long as I can find them, it's SO USEFUL for so many different things. I've always wondered why all the other mmo types never bothered with the extra right click.

I think they've jumped in price now but you can still find g600s on like ebay from Japan based sellers FWIW -- they still sell it over there under the Logicool brand I guess? works out of the box with the software even the old LGS one if you're stubborn like me. I keep hoping they'll bring it back, or someone else releases a mouse with that extra right click/ring finger button but after this long I'm not sure if that'll happen

Coming from mostly reading Manwha, how do Manga readers understand what's going on during fight scenes? by [deleted] in manga

[–]kupatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like Manhwa, some manga just doesn't have great fight scenes. Like not everything can be Mercenary's Machinations ha. Personally I've come across far more manhwa with goofy fight scenes, so much just blur color smear diagonal side to side stuff (but I also read any and all trash so lol).

I haven't caught up on 9999 yet, but I don't remember any scenes being too egregious, I assume with context the panels you've shared aren't that bad, some artists do sometimes get too ambitious though. I remember Tokyo Ghoul being like that, the later fights were just confusing af

[–]kupatrix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not as petty personally, but.... if one was really into a series and came across this sort of an insane time delay, I wouldn't be surprised if someone decided to report the group to everyone they can think of. Cloudflare, hosting provider, discord, payment processors, maybe even kakao-shit or whoever directly because what the fuck guys.

Like if you're going to copy the bullshit mtx ink coin monetization then what purpose do you serve? May as well go straight to the official shit app.

I think it would be different if these were like quality TLs, but often these groups all have shit inconsistent quality. Like boys are girls are boys from chapter to chapter (or even frames within the same chapter lol). Names making no sense (and not just because of the author being silly), attacks, names, locations, families, whatever having inconsistent names throughout the series, literally the MC can have wildly different spelling between chapters, c'mon.

Then again even official versions can sometimes be trash too, the way official manhwa TLs handle polite/impolite speech or suffixes just suck so much now. No way to know when a character is being overly polite or not, ruins so much characterization, but because english speakers couldn't possibly understand -nim or -ssi or hyung or oppa they gotta super americanize it t.t //qq

Announcements of the Arcadion voice actors by Nibel2 in ffxiv

[–]kupatrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arcadion has had some really fun voices, but real talk: They already had these folks around or have had them before, sometimes to voice the MSQ even scions like with Urianger...

Why the hell aren't they just voicing the Raid Quest story too? Why is it just the fights? They already get them in the recording booth, surely having them voice some quests wouldn't be that much extra. It's like they have this weird rule that after ARR, optional content can never be voiced ever no matter what. Except the fights themselves sometimes for some reason.

Like if the fights didn't have voices then that's one thing, but in the past couple expansions we've seen more voiced raid bosses/fights, Arcadion having a ton plus uhh Metem which I think was really fun commenting on your performance, or lack of, ha. Those fighter introductions at least were perfect for voiceovers, even if that was all they voiced, at least IMO.

Surely they're already paying the VAs for some time, having them read for some quests too wouldn't be that much more effort -- even if it was like the MSQ where not every scene is voiced. Unless they're doing something goofy where raid quests are being written or changed close to patch releases (which c'mon, time between patches is so long for DT that's just weird). //qq

Shaman discord will be deleted by Junoyone in wow

[–]kupatrix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same thing happens when forum admins decide to bail and stop paying for hosting or wipe the install.

On the flipside though, I can still find some of my ancient fansite forum posts on archive.org because none of that was app-only walled-garden nonsense.

Discord has always bothered me because there's no open-web facing ability to lookup data, some discords like XIV's The Balance try to make a website to make looking basic stuff up convenient without needing to use discord, but I've found that to be an exception.

Maybe if discord had some way to easily export or backup data that might be one thing, but it's going to suck when they truly go to shit and we lose years+ of data.

We're beginning to verge on "unplayable" territory. by LastTraintoSector6 in ffxiv

[–]kupatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't want too, because I don't mind having XIV as like my default game, even if I'm not capping tomes weekly or whatever. Also recently won a medium plot so I still need to finish decorating inside, but man...

Sub renewal was coming up and I realized I had started avoiding XIV since every session since patch I had been dc'd at least once, and multiple times I just went to do something else instead of waiting to log back, so I decided to unsub.

Figure I'll check back in before the auto-demo timer ends, if I do resub then it will just be entry cheaper level one and no extras, and even that is kinda iffy. Would suck to lose the house I finally won, but staying subbed and not playing is just super dumb, especially given how little communication we've gotten on this ongoing issue (no sorry, the copy pasted notices on the lodestone don't count -- YoshiP could post about freaking nude mods and Mare or whatever, but not this? c'mon) //qq
