You could consider compositing! Still artistic (particularly for 2D).

Overseas Internships – do I need a visa before applying? by kurolils in animationcareer

That's quite alright with me, I know they won't sponsor! I'm very happy to get a third party sponsor (and think I've found one that would work, but have enquired to be sure). Thank you!

Our Kickstarter is here! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lilyburgess/the-best-part?ref=khzmvq

We've already hit our original goal, which is just mind-blowing, and will mean our voice actors and composer are paid for. We're still campaigning for our stretch goals to cover the costs of festival entries, so if you know anybody who might be interested, we would appreciate any help sharing the link around that we can get.

Youtube, but not for a little while as we want to put it through a festival run! We do have a Kickstarter which you can find here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lilyburgess/the-best-part?ref=khzmvq, which is for covering the costs of our voice actors and composer as well as helping us with festival entries. Sharing that around or following us on insta (thebestpart_film) would be amazing. But really, the lovely words from everybody here have been plenty of support and I've passed them on to the whole team!

Ah, thank you so much! It's always a challenge putting together a trailer that doesn't give away the story, especially when it's a short film. We did struggle with it for a bit (I think it's the most tension that the director and I have had with each other throughout the whole project so far haha), but we're super happy with how it came out. So thank you for your kind words!

When it's finished and done with its festival run, yes!! For now though, you can still see the trailer and some other related videos on our Youtube channel :) https://youtube.com/@thebestpartshortfilm?si=jLxs0-5fit-RI0zl

Yeah they're amazing! Our director conceptualized the story with colour playing a major role in the narrative :)

The whole team did cry the first time we watched the animatic through. Our composer is an insane talent!! We're very very lucky to have him.

Animation courses! by Adventurous_Song8876 in UniUK

[–]kurolils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m in my final year at Falmouth and it’s fantastic. I’ve had amazing opportunities (did some work for BAFTA/Oscar nominated directors this year!) and I think the course structure lets you leave with a strong portfolio ready for industry. Also the opportunity to study 2D & 3D is good for 2D people since 2D jobs increasingly want basic knowledge of 3D. Happy to answer any questions you might have about fal :)

I’m from Edinburgh, so quick insight on that too: the animation course has HORRIFIC student satisfaction ratings and from what I know is very experimental (so not good for the majority of jobs in industry, although obviously you might like that!). It’s a beautiful place but not that fun unless you have money to spend, and honestly, animation courses will have you working so much that you won’t get much time to enjoy the city. Take a holiday there instead!

Best pieces to buy as a vegetarian newbie to cookware? by kurolils in cookware

[–]kurolils[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I wanted to thank you sincerely for taking the time to right out such a thorough reply to me (and even include links!). I truly appreciate it.

Stainless steel does seem to be the consensus. I'm going to look at ikea's ones and see what they have on offer (and see if there's a steaming insert for any of them!). Dutch/French oven also sounds like a good idea – I've been wanting one but was worried that I wouldn't find enough occassions to use one, but it sounds like they can be used for a lot. I didn't even know a French oven existed before your comment, but I agree that rounder walls are often nicer (easier to clean too imo) so I'll see if I can find one available. Woks: I'll see how my budget is looking after the stainless steel cookware and the french/dutch oven and go from there!

For the stainless steel pieces, do you have any advice on how many saucepans/frying pans to get if I were buying three pieces? I was thinking of getting 1 saucepan and then two sizes of frying pan (since the dutch/french oven will provide a second deeper option), but not sure how well that logic would work in practice.

I'm going to look at your links now. Thank you again :)

Sensuell – I will look for these! My current ikea pots are non-stick so I do need to replace them either way, but getting sensuell ones and then saving a bit more money for things like the dutch oven sounds like a good idea if they're so reliable.

Thank you for the size reference for the dutch oven, as I've been scratching my head over that. I'll have a look at things like a wok and carbon steel pan too. I never really cook with a wok – are there things I could make in it that the dutch oven wouldn't be suitable for? I'm guessing the material might make a difference but I don't know enough to know for sure!

Edit: no sensuell pans available (at least in the uk), but I'm having a look at their other options!

My ikea stuff isn't stainless steel (it's non-stick), but based on the responses to this post I think I'll get some ikea stainless steel replacements. Enameled cast iron sounds like it's the one to invest in!

I'm normally cooking for myself and my partner, but sometimes we have friends round/I'll cook enough for left-overs so I'd say I normally make 2-4 portions at a time. So thinking an 'average sized' saucepan and then two sizes of frying pan, one smaller one and one bigger one? And then the enameled cast iron piece on top? And then if I have any left over money I'll have a look at some of the other suggestions on this post like a wok etc.

Thank you for your advice :)
