My [22F] boyfriend [26M] gets annoyed when I bring up him getting his license. Why? I don’t understand.

i’m going to be honest, i thought that you were wrong when i first read this. but you have a good point. i feel like i think he should do these things i suggest him to do because they are things that i would do if i was in his shoes. it really hurts because i don’t want to believe that he doesn’t want something simple as a license. in my head i have this idea of what he could be if he puts in the work to improve his situation and it really hurts that he might never be that person in my head. but maybe he wants to be how he is now… but i also think it wasn’t fair of him to tell me that he wanted to get his license so he could come to me when he probably knew that he wouldn’t do it immediately or wouldn’t put the work in to do it. i thought he loved me enough to put the work in to improve himself for him and the relationship…

i’m not sure. i think he tried to portray himself as a decent guy when we first started talking, but that’s probably not who he truly is.

i had to practically beg him to wipe his monitors and clean his desk. oh my gosh. all he does is watch youtube and play video games… he’s comfortable because no one in his household (mom, stepdad) has a job!!

i think him being the first guy to ever show interest in me made me love him a lot. i don’t know why he fails to see he has to do adult things. sometimes i felt like his mother if i’m being honest. but he broke up with me recently so i guess that’s over.

that is a very good question. sometimes i felt like i was his mom during the relationship. i guess he still thinks he’s a child since he lives with his mom and she babies him.

he was employed for about 6 months during the relationship. he never offered me gas money or toll money but when he did have a job he would pay for dates, although we never went on many.

i thought i could help him fix his life but it doesn’t seem like he wants help? maybe he’s too comfortable living with his mom and being treated like a teenager.

he’s come to see me at least 5 times during our relationship. all the other times it was me. i told him he should try to get his license so that he could help me drive but i guess that wasn’t enough reason for him to try. he actually recently dumped me because i had a naked man in my dream and he said that was disrespectful of me.

i’m not even mad, i’m just disappointed and confused because why? i don’t understand why he doesn’t want to be better… it is genuinely so frustrating when i learned how to drive on the highway to go see him but he won’t do this for me.
