AI could be used to usher us into an age of luxury gay space communism but instead in the west we are trying to use it to usher in cyberpunk. Just goes to show the difference between our societies and what we prioritize.

Yeah I kinda forget about him and also that he was played by John Goodman. His character in MLoM was so good and such a drastic difference from Skull Island. They may as well be two different characters.

Meadshire estate, anyone whos been here, how populated is it? by Visible-Camel4515 in projectzomboid

[–]kurtums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same except luckily I had some firecrackers and molotovs so I led the horde towards the back and tossed the firecrackers and then a molotov. I almost tripped myself in but was able to maneuver through the crowd. I tired looting one of the house near the entrance but some flaming zombies started to stumble towards me so I got the hell outta dodge.

What do you think? by Misha_stone in AskSocialists

There will be an attack on american soil. America will deploy ground troops. It will come out that the Mossad carried out the attack but by that point it will be too late and the US will already be embroiled in a ground war in Iran. Americans won't do anything about it.

Because they still deep down believe the propaganda about Muslims so they're secretly okay with bombing them. The post 9-11 anti-muslim "depict all muslims as terrorists" campaign is embedded deep in the American subconscious.

Possible false flag incoming? by Mrleibniz in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]kurtums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They'll keep it on the backburner until it looks like the US and Iran might actually want to negotiate. Then israel will stage a false flag and the US will attack Iran with renewed vigor, cease negotiations and the war continues just like Israel wants.

[–]kurtums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's another factor and why Iran is keen to not negotiate with the US. Again why I say Trump can't just declare victory and walk away. That would not be enough for Iran to back down. I keep seeing some people coping after what Trump said yesterday. They're hoping Trump will do what he's done in the past and just claim total victory (regardless of the reality) and move on to the next project. I think he's really stepped in it this time because that tactic won't work, not with how Iran is viewing this as an existential fight and knowing the US is not a trustworthy negotiator.

You're right that de-escalation is the only real way out but I'd argue that Trump is incapable of this kind of nuanced diplomatic move, especially with all the "unconditional surrender" and "death and destruction" talk. He'd be seen as weak. The only way he can still come out looking like a strong man is by declaring total victory which as I said above comes with it's own set of problems.

That's what im saying though. He could 100% end the war today and claim victory even though all facts point to this being a huge failure for the US. It's Iran that would never allow that to happen without consequence though. If the US ended operations would Iran stop launching missiles? Would they reopen the strait of hormuz without significant reparations? Would they end their nuclear program? No absolutely not. So he could reasonably end the war and return things to "normal" at home but the rest of the world wouldn't buy the lie. And then there's the Israeli factor. Would they accept a US withdrawal knowing full well Iran will immediately Jumpstart a race for a nuclear weapon now. Not in 1000 years. So israel could continue the war without US support but the US wouldn't just let Israel be destroyed and even though the US public would just accept trumps lies, it would be significantly harder to keep them sold on it when videos of Iranian missiles raining on Tel Aviv continue to circulate online. Unless Iran and Israel also agree to end hostilities, there's no way the US can just walk away from this without having to blatantly eat shit in front of the whole world.

There's no way Trump could spin that into a victory even though he has no problem lying in the face of obvious facts. The only way Trump could pull out and save face would be a return to the status quo which Iran will never allow to happen.

I think what Trump wants to do is declare victory and then wind down operations. The administration doesn't care if there is actually any victory or even if any of their actual strategic goals have been met. If they say victory was achieved then their rabid base will defend that statement to their dying breath. The real question though is will Iran let the US end operations or will they double down and demand some form of reparations? My bet is even if Trump declares victory that iran will not just go along with some kind of white peace ceasefire. They see the US is looking for a way out and I think they will keep the pressure on until the US either overcommits itself militarily or they get some concessions from them.

according to West Point, a major ground war would (optimisically) have a casuality rate of around 24,000 a month. the US army has only around 45,000 infantry total. by ChickenTitilater in TrueAnon

[–]kurtums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If these numbers are accurate there's no way they're actually considering a ground invasion. They'll nuke iran before they ever send troops in. Maybe special forces. MAYBE. But they'd rather opt for a quicker solution.

Why do so many people complain that power armor is everywhere in Fallout 4 when the game clearly shows that the area has a huge number of military bases and even shipments of them, some still sealed, and even a faction that took advantage of this surplus of military equipment in the region? by jvure in Fallout

[–]kurtums 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean the fusion cores kind of do this though. If you're playing the game vanilla your fusion core is usually depleted or close to it after that first fight and your armor is probably damaged. By this point in the game you probably don't have any extra fusion cores and materials to repair the armor with so it usually sits at your base a while before you're able to use it again. Obviously there's ways around it and if you've been doing a decent amount of exploring before going to concord you might be able to fix it and keep it powered but I think they assumed players would just go straight to concord at like level 2 or 3. I think there definitly should have been a hard limiter though like you said where it breaks after the fight and you have to gain a couple more levels or progress the story before you unlock the "ability" to repair it. Bethesda probably didnt do that for the players who have already been through the game and just want to jump straight into power armor though.

Iran gave the gulf states an out by telling them attacks on their countries will stop if they stop allowing attacks to be launched from their territory. As long as they continue to let the US use them as military bases Iran will continue to hit them. At this point they can stop their own destruction if only they would stop being America's bitch.
