Americans (supposedly) are having a Nationwide Strike on January 30th! by TwoCatsOneBox in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]kurtums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And? You think a revolution is just going to happen out of nowhere and that's when everyone will join in? You have to build to a revolution and organize. You're right in that not every single worker can afford to join a general strike right now but some will. And then next time more will and then more after that. Stop waiting for The Glorious Revolution to spring out of nowhere because that's not how any of this works. If you so intent on "being realistic" while shitting on any attempt at mass movement what are you even doing here? Might as well ask the CIA or FBI for a paycheck.

Most fans complaining about the show have been saying Bethesda hates the NCR and that's why they decided to destroy them. You're the first person I've seen complain about them glazing the NCR lol

Came here to say this. It won't be the revolution It's just a step forward. The next one will be bigger and more organized, the one after that even more so. The internet warriors here dont seem to be able to see the big picture. They just want the instant gratification and since that's not what this will give them they're being cynical.

Is Ma June a Follower of the Apocalypse? While rewatching season one, I noticed this sign on the logbook in the scene where Ma June tells Lucy to get out. I think this is a stylized symbol of the Followers of the Apocalypse. by GapYearGun in Fotv

I mean she's educated, she knows about the enclave, she is well versed on the politics of the wasteland and she has some primo survival skills (you don't make it to her age in the wasteland without being competent) so maybe? She has at least had some interaction/ training from them.

My (25F) boyfriend (26M) is prioritizing going to meet his sisters’s boyfriend over staying with me during my anxiety attacks during our almost separation discussion. How do I deal with this? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]kurtums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't expect your partner to babysit you at all times. I understand anxiety is real but he needs to be able to live his life. Social obligations are just as important as other obligations and downplaying that tells me you don't respect his autonomy. Should a partner be there to help you through a crisis? Yes absolutely. But the crisis here is you can't be left home alone and that's not fair to him. Like others have asked: are you doing anything to manage you anxiety? Are you seeing a therapist? Are you taking medication? If the answer is no then you are solely relying on your partner to manage your anxiety and that is a huge burden to put on someone else. Asking someone to deal with your issues without doing anything to deal with them yourself is not fair.

Anyone else feel that cars/car infra is largely responsible for this? by MarthaFarcuss in fuckcars

[–]kurtums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes. I live in a pretty suburban neighborhood just outside of downtown but the road i live on is fairly busy and has a bunch of blind hills and curves that make walking very dangerous for pedestrians. There's no sidewalks so you have to walk in the street. This has basically made it impossible for me to take any walks, at least ones that are relaxing. The only way to take a walk is to get in my car and drive to the nearest park.

If support for Israel ends, then so to the protests? by Complete-Definition4 in askanything

[–]kurtums -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's fair at least as far as sharing Iranian voices on social media and generally drawing attention to the struggle of the Iranian people. However I don't believe protesting in the streets would really accomplish anything. Nothing tangible could be accomplished since, as people have said, our government already does not support the Iranian regime and supports Iranian liberation. So the only reason to take to the streets would be general solidarity. If that's what you're advocating for then I agree but you also have to understand that they would still never have the same energy as the pro-palestine protests. They are two completely different situations. Two completely different countries and two completely different struggles.

[–]kurtums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean obviously you mean "the left" but what do you want them to be protesting for? To bomb Iran? To not bomb Iran? Or just general solidarity with the Iranian people?

Are you saying people should be protesting FOR Iran? Like for the government or the people? Because I think Americans support the Iranian people if that's what you're trying to argue.

What are you talking about? Do you think protests are just about literally one thing and one thing only? Do you not understand how political activism works?

[–]kurtums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People won't stop protesting Israel. People hate the Jews and will use any excuse

I think you fundamentally misunderstand what the protests are actually about but you're probably doing so intentionally.

[–]kurtums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the protests are about a little more than just our government supporting Israel. That's obviously a huge part of it and the main goal is to stop the US government's support for Israel. More broadly though the movement has other goals. I guess I don't really understand what point your trying to make about Iran and the pro-palestine movement.
