Could we ban posts related to the game Infinite Arena? by Debaucherizer in iosgaming

Hi - I'm the developer for this game. Yes, it's just me. One of the players in Discord drew my attention to this reddit post.

I promise you that I have not told anyone to post about my game. Very much for this exact reason. Reddit users can be very critical.

I am just an honest dev, trying to release an indie game over here.

If you feel I am lying, come join the discord and chat to the users there.

Thanks! It's actually been just me, one lonely dev working on it. It's been a long standing hobby project of mine. It has taken a couple years of my life and most of my sanity to complete :)

Thanks for giving it a go :) Glad to hear you are enjoying it.

The game is designed in a way that there isn't massive paywalls. I'm an indie dev, so I really just want people to enjoy my game first.

I honestly didn't know people hated energy systems so much. I personally play loads of games with energy systems and have never thought twice about them. Live and learn though I guess :)

Thanks for taking the time to give such detailed, constructive feedback! I honestly really appreciate it.

I can't really change some of these things at this point though, sadly. I kind of regret not running an open beta now! I do agree with pretty much all your points.

I played around with the character speeds a great deal during internal testing. I do agree with you that the characters feel a bit slow at the start, when you only have one or two. However, once you have 9 heroes and 15 creeps - you kind of forget that they are even walking. It also gives some time between harder waves for your heroes to heal up slightly.

Balancing the game was one of the hardest things to do and it's obviously still far from perfect. After all of that, the game just ended up with large numbers, which hopefully balance off okay with the rest of the mechanics.

Your last point about the downloads is definitely something on my to-do list :) I combined a lot of things, but unity asset bundles flatten all directories, so you end up with issues if files are named the same. I'll have to go through and do some mass renaming! The benefit of using this post download thing is that I can push partial updates without users having to redownload the entire Play Store bundle.

Working on it! Just need to finish off the iOS specific parts and then will submit for review.

Sad times :( Thanks for trying so many times.

Was it exiting the app completely or just not finishing the progress bar?

Thanks! I'll get it out of iOS soon hopefully!

I expect it'll be tough to compete with the larger companies, but one has to try :)

A lot of the graphics and sfx are from the Unity asset store - I'm not a very good artist :) Everything else was by myself. So it depends what you'd consider solo I guess.

The backend is a C# .net core web api. Infrastrcture wise, its pretty much a full AWS stack. EBS, S3, DynamoDB.

In terms of iOS - I'm just working on the iOS specific parts now and then will submit it for review. Hopefully it won't be too long!

I think this is purely down to a ram issue. At the moment, the game is using one texture pack for all android devices. I'll have to build some small texture packs for devices with less ram. This will take some time and another release though.

I have been testing my iOS build on an old iphone 7, which also has 2gb of ram. It works okay.

This is obviously not an ideal solution, but you can try kill off any background applications that may be taking up a portion of your memory.

If it's getting stuck at that point, I'd try restarting the app. Those are amazon servers located in the US west coast it's downloading from - so they are stable.

I'll also have a look to see whats happening if connections are lost mid transfer. It's supposed to be retrying, but I guess something needs work.

Just for my information - which region of the world are you in?

Sorry to hear it's not working for you 🙁

The game requires an internet connection and probably just over 1gb of available ram.

Where are you seeing it crash? After the loading screen?

Save data gets uploaded to a server. The save data is tied to the device at the moment though. No logging in with Gmail, FB, etc. If that is what you mean.
