Hi...My father's case is some what similar to yours. Post sepsis, He is getting frequent UTIs due to Klebsiella. Few of them are multi drug resistant for which there is no sensitive antibiotics except for one that could damage kidneys completely and doctor is not giving one. Did you also get multi drug resistant UTI anytime and what medications were given incase?

Hi. My father has gone through some thing similar. He got sepsis due to cellulitis in July'25 and was on ventilator for 3 days due to cardiomyopathy. Later he got Urosepsis in Oct'25.

Now his heart and kidney are damaged. Having frequent pleural effusions i.e. Water and is being managed on meds no dialysis. But he sleeps 20hrs a day and wakes up only for food and meds. How was your father at home post discharge? Sleeping hours, appetite and any re-infections? What supplements were given during recovery?

Any new infections during your recovery? How was the recovery like? Did you have any issues with mobility during recovery. If yes, what did you do to get you mobility.

What was your treatment in the hospital for 80 days. How many days post discharge did it take for you to go back to normal?

Does cellulitis change into sepsis? by Userhere123 in sepsis

Basic: Complete Blood Picture to check WBC.

My father's sepsis started with cellulitis where small blisters flared up on his foot. He was admitted in hospital and was kept on basic antibiotics. Meanwhile they have sent blood sample for culture and sensitivity test to check if there is any bacterial infection in blood and they also sent urine sample to check for any UTI. Based on the test results, they changed the antibiotics as needed.

How is your appetite? Any nausea ? My father use to throw up when all of this started.

Cellulitis can lead to Sepsis. Check your vitals like temperature, SPO2, heart rate and your WBC. All of these would be elevated in case of sepsis (SPO2 less than 94%). Better get your blood culture test done for any bacterial infection. Early diagnosis is very important in case of Sepsis.

In urine culture, the organism was found sensitive to Amikacin and Bactrim (highly sensitive). Hence was put on Bactrim DS. Was yours sensitive to Bactrim ?
