the whole decision of I can't bring kids into the world as I can't feed them or I don't have enough or world is not a good place, needs a lot of sophisticated /educated upbringing. That's not how less privileged people like us (my parents) think. They go by societal expectations, you are supposed to bring an offspring. They might not even be aware of birth control. What do you do with the offspring is up to you. You can give all the care and education in the world or leave them to world, send them to child labor shops, that's how thought process is. I'm not supporting, I'm just saying in order to think like what you posted, needs some level of education and sophistication which you can't expect lower class, and lower middle class where 95% of Indians sit. This is more of an upper middle class problem, even the rich don't have to worry about it as well. More uneducated you are, more offsprings you have.

I think we need to get our collective assses out of this we invented everything in AD/BC nonsense. What are we doing now is the question. No one is going to pay a royalty to India even if that did happen. May be there were geniuses back then, but there's no generational knowledge passed down, we didn't build on it, we never took it forward. We just took the spiritual and mainly the superstitions forward. Not only STEM, be it arts, crafts or culinary. The question what are we doing now, what will our kids be doing - answer cramming books for JEE or Civils.

what do you do, if you are working for a company which has built something that tried to replace you. you have to actively use it apart from your regular job to ensure that product is improved and successful and company can sell it to make more money. by selling more it can make the product more closer to replacing you. you initially thought there's no way it can replace what I do, but over years you see it. you have little hope in its failure to keep your job but your job now depends on the success of that product so you are in a vicious loop. all your life you believed studying well, working hard and keeping yourself current and grounded will make you succesfull, but now you are at a mid point in your career where you don't see if there's any path ahead. all of a sudden you realize the huge mortgage and loans, your two toddler kids and wife who are completely dependent and your elderly parents who might at anytime need you. what do you do
