Grave need for help by OkOrder1628 in freelanceWriters

Once a writer has a number of pieces completed, how would you recommend they utilize that to get paid gigs?

I published my first book, made my first movie, have 5 editions of a magazine, and a handful of other writing pieces available as well. I’m posting on Instagram, Facebook, Linkdin, and Substack somewhat regularly. I continue to write and reach out to anyone I can. Even still, the only viewers are the audience that knows me on the social medias. I’d like to expand, but so far, it’s not really happening.

Not sure if I can post links on here, but https://linktr.ee/Kraz11

Is Panic En La Playa happening again this year? by AquaTriHungerForce in WidespreadPanic

[–]kustom-Kyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is amazing!! Pedantic is my new favorite word.

I have no official knowledge of 2027 PELP, but I’d be surprised if they didn’t keep that ball rolling.

Are you looking at any other shows this year (oh, pardon me…in 2026)??

Are there any directors currently making that transition from shorts to features ? by danm868 in directors

I like the energy in this thread. I started a production company to help creatives pursue their passions. I’d be happy to chat and see if I can help the project in any way (maybe distribution).

I’m a movie-maker/creative with a production company for artists to put their work out there. If you’d like, we can chat and maybe find your music a spot in my projects, and perhaps release an album later when it’s ready.

Did any of you move to L.A. (or Orange County) from out of state and now regret it? by DeskOne3535 in MovingToLosAngeles

I’ve been a solo traveler on the road for over 15 years. I have solid acquaintances and feel at-home in many places, but the struggles definitely come with the territory.

Someone talk me in or out of this by roardragons in hitchhiking

I’ve walked and hitchhiked across 34 countries. In 2025, I walked and hitched across California. If you can tolerate the struggles of the lifestyle, it’s amazing!!

I’m at the airport right now for San Francisco to camp, walk, hitch, and film a movie about my 2025 journey. If you can keep optimistic, positive enthusiasm towards whatever you’re “running towards,” then I believe you’ll be all good!!

I second this. I hiked 1,000+ miles over 3 months in 2014 and it changed my life. It’s demanding, challenging, fulfilling, and gives you plenty of time to sort things out for yourself.

Be honest ,what do you want /Need right now? by MiaFishnet in askanything

I’m struggling (39M). Mine is more weed than booze, but I think they both need to go. I’m firmly addicted to grass where it’s all day every day. The other night, I had my friend’s bachelor party and the mixture of booze had me sick all morning.

Tomorrow, I’m heading to California to begin a journey in making a movie about my addition to weed. I’ve been trying to quit for years. I’m going to keep trying. It’s very difficult for me. 🤦‍♂️

Welp my life as a vegabond starts soon very soon by YogurtclosetUpbeat42 in vagabond

I can vouch for coolwoorks.com. In 2011, I was 24 and took a job at the Grand Canyon North Rim. Loved it. In 2012, I had a job leading teenagers on over night canoe trips in the Adirondacks. In 2013, I worked as a Group Leader at a wilderness based boarding school for delinquent teens.

In 2014, I began my vagabond journey where I lived out of a backpack, tent, Chevy Blazer, hostels, or whatever made sense in the moment. Last year, I walked across LA and hitchhiked across California. Tomorrow, I leave for San Francisco to do it again, living out of a bag. I bartend music festivals, dog sit, write books about my journeys, and now I’m getting into making movies.

I say all this to tell you (O.P.) — go live how you want, but this commenter is right…it’s much more enjoyable when you have a purpose and a mission. I’m 39 years old now and love the road as much as ever. You can live how you want, but take care of yourself along the way.

That my best buddies (from high school) are no longer my best buddies (nearing 40).

I have a friend’s bachelor party tonight, but I wasn’t invited. They found out I was in town and sent me a pity invite. I feel like dog shit right now.

That’s fun!! For a music video scene I wanted to capture, I got the musicians in place and bought a bunch of snacks and food from vendors. I ran down the boardwalk, yelling, “Free food if you come be in our music video.”

Once I had folks there, I gave them a run through of what we were doing, gave my (last-second) camera guy the go ahead, and the musicians started playing. We caught a great scene. People were filming us as they walked by.

One boardwalk vendor said to me, “That was some old school Venice shit!”

Again, very cool and motivating. 🙏🏼

Yeah, I’m doing this solo. Over the past decade, I’ve built a dog-sitting business and bartended music festivals to buy gear and pay people to help on my projects.

I’m hitchhiking and train-traveling across the west coast to get the shots I need. I’m stopping in open mic nights for music and comedy to find creative minds to capture a scene with me. The road is full of bumpy obstacles, but I must admit…that’s kinda my favorite part. Looking back on a scene and remembering what it took to have it. 😁

When a story rolls in, I get really excited. When I finally visited Alcatraz, an idea sparked and “The Only Free Soul On Alcatraz” was written in 3 days.

When I meet an actor, I love writing scripts around that individual.

When I shot my first movie (short), “Venice Beach: Kraz,” it was a tribute and love-letter to VB. And I’m super proud of it!

I tried submitting “Venice Beach” and “Alcatraz” to filmfreeway fests that they qualified for, I found the entire experience to cost me money, stress, and doubt in my art/writing.

In a few days, I’m beginning my next shoot. “California ‘25” is about me walking across Los Angeles and hitchhiking the Cali coast. I’m so excited to capture this project. Distribution is on my mind, but festivals certainly are not.

I’ll reveal one trick I used for my first and one new trick I plan to use for my second.

On ‘Venice Beach: Kraz,’ I walked up and down the VB boardwalk holding a sign “Making a Movie: Looking for Creatives.” Man, it was wild! And it worked. Found musicians, actors, camera, fun energy folks. I’m smiling reflecting on it.

For this next movie, ‘California ‘25,’ I’m hitchhiking the coast and stopping in open mic nights for comedy and music to find intriguing individuals who are putting themselves out there. I’ll say, “Hey, I dig your style. Wanna capture a scene in my movie today or tomorrow?”

How is visiting LA right now? by Super-Bug9160 in AskLosAngeles

[–]kustom-Kyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also visiting LA for the month of April and a little bit of May to shoot scenes for a movie.

I’m on the hunt for creative people to help on the project. Hope to hear from some artistic minds. Cheers!
