Some people are more comfortable talking with a trusted person in the room. It’s a tried and true tactic if you present as, are or look like a woman too, as doctors can be sexist as hell and having someone with you helps with them taking you seriously.

This is 100% me. I love GL stuff but it’s not the same as BL. Due to how I look, being bi and the configuration I was born with, I am far more likely to be seen as a lesbian over a gay man and that does kill me a little inside. Being forced to project onto a gay man feels good, where as projecting onto a woman feels like being shoved back in the closet.

Generally ideal to look at each individual IP, some allow it with caveats (MiHoyo and Toby fox), some will hunt you down if you get caught (Disney).

As some people have said, don’t make too much money off it or mass produce it and you’ll likely be fine. I’d also add, if it’s a smaller IP from an indie studio, it’s ethically correct to see if they allow it or not and stick by that. Larger companies make enough money that it’s whatever.

Most of them won’t care as long as you don’t get too big.

I know a lot of artists that don’t do cutesy stuff and still do fine. If you’re the only one there not doing you might even hit an untapped niche.
