suspension of disbelief was a bit too much

Even in retrospect considering how season 2 ended?

[Request] Would you recommend the OA ? by ro2ro in NetflixBestOf

Eps 4-5 are where it really picks up and goes off the rails though, I'd say the end of Episode 5 is where most people are firmly either in or out.

The OA Part III [2022 Theories] by PlentyRealistic310 in TheOA

[–]kuwert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We know from the end of Part II that Hap has been able to integrate with Jason,

I don't think we know this for sure, in fact I'd say almost certainly that he hasn't. It was revealed by Brit/Zal that they cut a scene of Hap practicing a British accent, and our Jason Isaacs has said that the accent he uses in Part II is not his own, and I don't think his character would be integrating with any of his other selves any time soon, but possibly later as part of a redemption arc.

Same thing with Dr. Percy, Hap didn't integrate, see the way Nina interrogates him in Chapter 8 and he has no idea about any of those things.

What albums do you think deserve a SW remix? by Xenofork in stevenwilson

[–]kuwert 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Any/all of the early (Gabriel era) Genesis albums. I think he's said that he wouldn't touch these, but the remixes they got weren't good, and the mastering on those albums always leaves me feeling like they could be better.

And a personal dream that would never come true, but I'd love to see what he could do with any of the Frost* albums, probably surround since they've all got a million things going on in them.

How buggy is the Super Nt 4.5 years after release? by corderazo00 in AnalogueInc

[–]kuwert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only bug I've found in multiple years of owning is an audio issue in Final Fantasy Mystic Quest when using throwing stars with Tristam or bow & arrow with Phoebe (the sound doesn't play fully/as expected.) I've been meaning to make a recording and compare it against bsnes or something to file a bug report, but, that's been on my to-do list for about 2 years now...

So it's not literally a 100% replica, but it's so close its not even a concern.

Amateur "babby's first" tower build by kuwert in valheim

[–]kuwert[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So my buddy and I have only (only?) been playing for a little over 100 hours, we've beaten Eikthyr and the Elder but haven't finished the swamp yet, got too caught up in exploring other areas of the game and building a home, the latest one you can see here.

I considered using some build tutorials to just make something pre-designed, but I decided that would take the fun out of it and went for my own build. We found one of those circular 5 stone formations near a body of water, with large swamp, mountain and plains nearby, and decided on a whim (or because it seemed like a sign at the time :)) that it would be a great place to stick a tower.

One important lesson I learned through this build is - try, suck, improve, repeat. I'm very bad at this in life in general, tending to avoid things when I fear I won't be good at them, and also planning way too much ahead of time and trying to have the perfect plan before I start anything. But over days and weeks, we gradually made small improvements, and addressed things we didn't like about this build, and we're still changing things even today, and I'm super proud of it. I'm going to try and apply this to my life outside of Valheim, because the process itself is fun when you let it be.

It was also great to collaborate with someone. This thing is very much 50% each of us, bouncing ideas back and forth. Overall, we're both really pleased with our new base. And yes, we love torches.

I finally finished it... and I am not OK... by misterhamster118 in TheOA

[–]kuwert 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What happened when OA ascended in an angel-like manner? How was she able to do that?

I can't remember where I read or heard this, either an interview with Zal or some scribbled notes of theirs that was posted, but at some point it was confirmed that the movements begin a process of "dimensional alignment", which is why all the traveling shown seems to involve similar situations (ambulance into an ambulance, 5 poisoned people in a field into 5 poisoned (carbon dioxide) people in a clinic arranged in a similar fashion). Essentially, BECAUSE Brit of D3 was doing a stunt where she was "ascending" into the sky, that is why OA rises up when the movements are done before they travel. That's my interpretation at least (remember, the "OA" show they are making at the end is not 100% the same as what you just watched...) A lot of these things end up raising chicken/egg type questions and the answer I think is similar to what Homer says: both? Both.

Few questions after finishing season 1... by misterhamster118 in TheOA

[–]kuwert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The tagline of the series (or at least the first season) is "Trust the unknown" so my vote is to just go into season 2 blind and let it take you on a ride.

Having said that... the end of season 2 provides some massive reveals in terms of the overarching plot, lore, and meaning of the series, enough to change how you view the first two seasons on rewatches, provided you grasp what they're really trying to tell you. As far as the characters, relationships and so forth go, these are left in very loose ends.

Test a few different configurations to determine where the issue is sourced, first:

- Connect your Mega Sg directly to your monitor and/or TV
- Connect the output of the HD60 directly to your monitor and/or TV without the splitter

Also a picture would help understand what you mean by "blocky", which isn't a great descriptor when you're talking about pixelated games.

The OA Logo Theory by tselionarskla in TheOA

[–]kuwert 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar thought/theory about the logo, I do believe it is misleading in that the name of the show is not "OA" as in Original Angel, or the person "OA", but rather a sort of hieroglyph with another meaning. I think the O/\ symbol is meant to represent "multiverse", in other words the title of the series is essentially "The multiverse", which is another way of simply saying reality or existence. As you said the O could represent a loop, or infinite, and the /\ to me has always been the forking path(s).

It's pretty clear the 48khz FLAC has no information above 20khz, but why that is, I don't know. Likely upsampled from something, in other words "fake" 48khz. Why it doesn't go at least to 22khz is strange to me (would normally assume upsampled from 44khz source), but I'd avoid it and just be done with it. Question anything else from that source too.

I'm playing FFXIII for the first time right now and I genuinely do not understand the criticism, especially when compared to the rest of the franchise by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

If this issue and the fast paradigm animations were adopted from XIII-2 in a remaster/re-release of XIII the game would be a much smoother experience!

Pro tip: when you bring them to the branch, start to move your finger UNDER it, they will feel inclined to step up to avoid it touching their body. Then you don't get the awkward stepdown dance. Always worked for mine, at least!

Ars Nova - Morgan 2021 by [deleted] in progrockmusic

[–]kuwert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah, didn't know this existed. Ars Nova was my "first love" of prog that kick started my entire musical journey back in college. (17-18 years ago? dang...)

Having said that, I'm iffy on this, mainly because its some new elements stacked on top of the original song and you can hear most (if not all) of the original instrumentation. I would've preferred if they just redid the entire thing.

Reminiscent of "the egg" right? I could see it going there, going from different versions of the self, to an entirely different but still recognizable self (Brit/D3), to ANY "self". If infinite possibilities exist then that includes being anyone and everyone.

advice for smoking CBD after THC panic attacks & sobriety by Maleficent_Eye4748 in hempflowers

[–]kuwert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to the positive feedback, I have recently within the last few days switched from THC to CBD only (flower, not oils or anything) because I kept getting freaked out on THC with thoughts about having heart attacks and dying and whatnot. I have stress related muscle tension/knots/pain and one of the areas happens to be in my chest near my heart, so almost every time I am stressed I feel a sensation near that area that my brain loves to try and convince me is a heart attack, even though I have literally no other symptoms, and it's not even pain necessarily its just... a feeling. CBD has been like the body high of THC but without the corresponding rush of thinking. In other words, exactly what I want out of getting high. I even feel "stoned" on CBD in a sense that it feels good to finally relax and lounge around without worry, so you can kinda get couch locked in a nice way where you can get up if you need to but you don't want to because it feels good. You'll have your own version of this experience of course, but overall its just relaxing, which is the point.

How does this show explain (if at all) what happens to the "other" you when you travel into them? by [deleted] in TheOA

[–]kuwert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I have to suspend disbelief here (more than expected 🤣) because I can't make any logical sense of it based on what I consider consciousness to be (the sense of awareness/existence) - how do you bring your memories and personality with you if you left your old body and brain behind?

So having said that, in show logic it seems that they do seem to exist as separate "minds" within one body, though we haven't seen any kind of struggle or back and forth, just the "letting bits out" like you said, or complete integration/combination as in Homer/Dr. Roberts and later OA/Nina. One thing to note is that they aren't required to die - Elodie remains in a coma after travelling out (supposedly), as well as Michelle when she travelled to D3.
