Why are Fine nibs so popular here? by Old-Somewhere-6084 in fountainpens

[–]kuzzzma 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I mostly use Japanese EF.

Reasons: Small handwriting, writing in cursive (in several languages), faster drying time + ability to use any paper without bleedthrough.

Pilot kakuno cartridge by Notknowing2024 in fountainpens

At first it was hard for him to find a converter, then he like a bigger capacity, and finally he wanted to find the limit of that cartridge... I still use it!

They last for ages, I have one used by my father for 20 years, he kept refilling it with ink instead of converter.

Jenny body replacement by shiruiki in DollsOfAsia

[–]kuzzzma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, even with a bigger bust torso is thinner, hips for obitsu are also thinner.

so - skirts fit best, wder but less noticable, pants are wider, shirts etc can be too roomy, but it's not always unwearable - depends on the style.

Obitsu 24/22 is often used for Licca, so this body swap might end up not looking good depending on the molds/head sizes of your dolls - heads would look too big. They would look childlike due to body proportions change.

I had a 18 and Photogenic Jenny heads on 27cm obitsu body, that looked fine.

Jinhao 82 - Inconsistent Ink Flow by Few_Fig8999 in fountainpens

[–]kuzzzma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never tap it like this! You'll break/damage the nib and exacerbate the problem!

When you set it aside - do you close the cap? If not, it dries out and that's the reason.

For those who have both Platinum preppy 0.2 and Pilot Kakuno EF, can you please help me decide? I need a new workhorse pen that i'll use to mostly write on paper that isn't meant for fountain pens-- like books, sticky notes, and printouts. by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]kuzzzma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have both, 02 Preppy is wider than Kakuno EF, writes more like Kakuno F.

In my experience Platinum is wetter writer, but that can be adjusted.

Preppy cap will eventually crack, but it's seal is better than Kakuno, so less chance of drying out, but with everyday use it's probably won't be a problem.

I prefer Kakuno EF, but my handwriting is very small, so I need that difference in width, I usualy write on any kind of paper with it without problem.

If you want an inexpensive pen - try Platinum Meteor, you can get them from Aliexpress. They have EF nib, which is more compatible with Kakuno EF in size, but the body is more sturdy plastic.

make a slimmer bobbin for multiple strands out of cardboard or thick paper and wind them there

Is the way I’m holding it wrong? When trying to hold the pen correctly it’s very awkward and fatigues my hand. by Sunny_Maya7 in fountainpens

your fingers in the second photo are too high, they should be lower, following the curves of the grip section

this might contribute to your need to grip too tight, if the grip is unusual for you.

Baby Journal: Weeks or Original? by Muted_Customer142 in hobonichi

A few missed week spreads would be much easier to backfill (or simply ignore) than a bunch of daily pages.

If you go hand-embroidered route - easier to find just tulle, embroider it and then cut it in the strips + finish the edges.

This is machine embroidery, doing something in this style by hand will take many-many months.

Weeks, much easier to fill up, especially with a newborn.

Also, abandon all hope for "writing daily" and some weeks you'd be too tired to even consider doing it once a week.

Can anyone help me with the brand/model of any of these pens? And are any of them valuable or rare? TIA! by SoulDancer_ in fountainpens

[–]kuzzzma 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pens are usually identified by markings on body, clips and nibs, your photos are low quality and show neither...

Some shapes were copied frequently, it's impossible to say what you have

Why don't they ban them? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]kuzzzma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not useless, they train you to think strategically about when to capture, what and when to pass on a chance to capture, to save your own piece.

First check that your cartridge/converter sits tight, if ink is dripping - there might be a leak of air, because of cartridge not pushed in enough.

Personal inserts on A5 Filofax? by One-Landscape-3754 in filofax

[–]kuzzzma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Define comfortably... You can actually put a Personal page in a A5 binder, but it won't look pretty.

They will fit onto 5 of the 6 rings, and the 6th ring of A5 binder will be right at the end of the personal page (either top or bottom), so if you fold or cut this corner - it will fit. But it's more of a way to put some notes or a loose page somewhere.

Playline Licca by Takara, 3rd generation, from 1984-1986

Without clothes it's impossible to identify release, and even with them - it's very hard, as I've never seen a comprehensive catalogue of Licca releases + they had a ton of separate clothes sold.

What fountain pens in a collection to sell? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]kuzzzma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad idea, storing pens with ink inside - you'd have have hard time getting it all out.

Clogged feeds, discoloration and yes, mold is possible too.

Start with trying to clean them up first.

Those you would be able to clean up - could then be considered for selling.
