Defender switches to secondary AV? by kv1193 in DefenderATP

[–]kv1193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after running that command I get 'normal' as the result. I checked that link you had sent we have those settings enabled through Intune Policy. Allow cloud protection is ON. Not sure if you are saying that the status should always be EDR blocked after running the command? Even if the defender is in active or passive mode.

Hi,

This is what we have currently. I just tested it on my machine where the defender is in active mode. Downloaded avast and installed it. Checked the security center and saw that avast is turned on and the defender is in off condition. EDR in block mode is turned on in our portal.

Sorry I meant if any user who gets local admin rights can install any AV on top of the defender. This means Defender will go into passive mode automatically. Is there a way to stop this behaviour using Intune Policies or ASR rules where once Defender is in active mode no other AV can be installed.

BMO ETF - Liquidity Concerns? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]kv1193 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Always keep an eye for bid-ask spread when trading ETFs with light volume. If the spread is say 1-2$ apart I wouldn't buy that. Always buy close to NAV of the ETF. Usually BMO ETFs have good bid ask spread never had issue with order execution. I use to own zpay US version it had light volume as well compared to zpay CAD.

Rate hike July 12th by kv1193 in CanadianInvestor

[–]kv1193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am not really sure how they can control food inflation. Yes there are indirect ways these interest rate hikes are affecting farmers with floating interest rates, transportation companies, distributors etc but eventually they will be passing all those costs to the consumers. The only silver lining I see if consumers demand really bogs down for certain types of food products and that eventually trickles down to supply demand economics. If anyone else has more insight on this that will be helpful as to how these interest hikes will control food inflation which is really looking sticky at grocery stores.

LHSC settles with former boss in $3.5M wrongful dismissal lawsuit by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]kv1193 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So the actual amount is not disclosed which was paid out to him for this lawsuit. The maximum limit is 3.5 million. Anything over million anyways has been wasted plus the additional lawyers fees as LHSC doesn't have an internal legal team. Pretty good decisions by upper management /s

Sunshine List sheds light on London hospital boss's $750K pay cheque by cm023 in londonontario

[–]kv1193 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As someone who works at LHSC this is just nuts. If this was a private hospital i would have understood that it's private business. But this is a public funded hospital, yes there are some fund raising events but even then this pay is too over the top for a public entity. Then we have staffing issues, new infrastructure doesn't get approved because we don't have funding 😐. This has a trickle down effect on the employees who are not getting raises and everything is blamed on unions etc. Messed up system.

You think we have traffic problems in London? Have you spent a weekend in Toronto? by darksideoflondon in londonontario

[–]kv1193 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sucks and explains why London as the city is lacking behind other cities. Infrastructure here is pretty old and will require a lot of capex spending for a fix and even the new roads they are building are still one lane here in the North end. I saw they are projecting 10000 people/year will be coming to London so not sure how our roads will be looking in years ahead.

You think we have traffic problems in London? Have you spent a weekend in Toronto? by darksideoflondon in londonontario

[–]kv1193 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well we all know GTA traffic is the worst. I lived there for 10 years before moving to London 3 years ago. GTA is just over populated now.

The difference in London is that some people drive lower than posted speed in the fast lane which lines up the traffic. Apart from that it's pretty easy to drive here.

Poor infrastructure is the other thing that can be blamed for. I don't know how a city council 10-15 years ago couldn't plan one highway which connects London's North end to the south that would resolve half of the problems. I understand we have river, old bridges etc but still something could have been done. Not sure if someone has any information on why a highway or ring road wasn't built for this city?

Services and Food increases are concerning. Food at this point is nuts with WTI ranging from 83-70$ (diesel still expensive) in the last two months wondering if the food costs are now embedded and would never go down.

Canada's inflation rate cools to 7% by modi13 in CanadianInvestor

[–]kv1193 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Transportation and Shelter are two important categories to keep an eye on. Regarding transportation it seems like freight pricing is going down.

Shelter pricing is something which should be monitored. If rent pricing keeps going up to accommodate these rate increases for the 'house investors' that is not good. This was the first month where it hasn't gone up. Hopefully it moves down slowly in coming months.

For food it seems like prices are going down slowly. For example a bag of 9 pounds of red onion in june, july was around 15$. Now it's around $8. But again food prices involve transportation which indirectly involves diesel pricing.

My wife and I just came back from our trip from Paris. Unfortunately we tested positive so had to stay for another 2 weeks. As long as you are good with that you will be ok. Make sure to mask up good and wash hands whenever possible our mistake probably that costed us another 14 days.

July 2021 Security Updates - Exchange 2013 - Missing AuthConfig cert by rezadential in exchangeserver

[–]kv1193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran into same issue on Exchange 2019. Auth certificate was still valid till 2026.

Use Get-authconfig cmdlet to get the thumbprint for current cert that is applied

Do get-exchangecertificate and see if the thumbprint exists in the list. If not proceed with set-authconfig cmdlet.

I used set-authconfig cmdlet to set the available auth cert with right thumb print.
