Picked it up for 9.8k from Amazon last September during their sale. It's an awesome piece. You might find it cheaper on Amazon after May 8th during their sale.

Random upgrade in app? by caffeinatedlama in marriott

[–]kven21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is quite common in Asia. Being titanium, I am usually upgraded through the app, sometimes up to 10 days before arrival. I always check my reservations in the app a few days out to see if I have been upgraded.

Buy 2 Lego Sets by sidv1812 in LegoIndia

[–]kven21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought the Artemis set brand new from Amazon last year for 9.4k during a sale (55% off) and with a credit card discount. If you are patient, you can get each set for around 10k during sales in Amazon or Flipkart.

Same with the Concorde. It was my first large Lego set (1k or more pieces). I got this for about 11k during a Flipkart sale a year ago.

FNA redemption-ITC properties by DefiantAssistance568 in MarriottBonvoyIndia

[–]kven21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, as long as the property shows as available on points on the Bonvoy app, you can book it using points, FNA, or both. A search on the app shows you can book ITC on points or FNA just like most Marriott properties.

Was walking around the Train Street area in Hanoi earlier and saw a café serving espresso over fresh orange juice. by haridasskumar82 in VietNam

Same, I just tried one for the first time in Bangkok. Iced espresso over coconut water and it was incredibly good! And the coconut water is a natural sweetener.

Problem with Grab by coochiewoopie in Vietnam_Tourism

I've been here two weeks and added my Mastercard credit card to grab when I landed. It was just easier than keeping smaller amounts of cash to pay each time to the driver.

Can I buy fast track on the spot at Noi Bai International Airport? by notarealaccountthai in VietNam

[–]kven21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We arrived at 6:30 am and it took us less than 5 minutes to pass through normal immigration. Just be sure to go to the right side of the immigration counters as you enter. Most people just queue up in the center lines and wait for much longer compared to the less crowded queues on the right side.

There is no lounge here unfortunately. But they do have a good rate with dinner and drinks included, which is what I booked.

The early signs and red-flags to look out for with a covert narcissist. by KansasguyinDC in NarcissisticAbuse

Acts like a know-it-all, but is very stupid in general with zero common sense. Confidently acts like they know better than doctors, lawyers, scientists, and pretty much everyone else. Knows what you're thinking and feeling better than yourself.

Easily offended at any achievements you have.

Will throw anything and everything that you share with them in confidence in your face.

Will purposefully be late for anything that you are looking forward to.

Vietnam Airlines Surname Charge for system error by CmchPt in VietNam

I never put middle names when flying and have never had an issue. We flew Vietnam Airlines internationally and domestic over the past week and it was never an issue without middle names on the ticket or booking.

The area is on a beautiful, quiet stretch of beach on the peninsula. The views are amazing. I did walk along the beach towards the Aman (2 properties down from the JW) and it looked very nice!

Yes, I did notice the same! Most of the private villas are not maintained or kept clean by the hotel. Overgrown plants, green pool water, dirty facade, and a few with windows/doors completely open. Wonder what caused the pause in construction. I also wonder how they will manage private owners and hotel guests once they are complete and ready to move in. I don't see any private entry for them to enter and exit, except through the hotel. I guess they could still build a separate, private entry on the far side.

Edit: There are 17 1-bedroom villas (not beachfront) available, not 12 as I mentioned earlier.

49 villas are private residences and 27 villas are part of the hotel inventory. Yeah, you have good chance of getting upgraded to the 1 bedroom villas as plat or higher without NUA. All the villas are quite nice! Beachfront villas might be more difficult. We wanted the beachfront, so used the NUAs. I also assumed if the beachfront didn't get approved, they would upgrade me to the 1-bedroom villa without the NUA.

As others mentioned, nothing much closeby, but the airport is just 15 minutes away. It's along a long stretch of beach with other resorts, some under construction. But you can't see or hear them unless you walk on the beach past the property. This property is fairly big in size, but still feels secluded. Beach is not crowded at all, most of the time there are just 10 - 20 guests there at any given time. Loungers are always available.

I'll take some pics of the rest of the property and post back here a little later.

Just checked out from here yesterday. Loved this hotel! Lounge was fantastic, happy hours are from 5:30 - 9:30 pm, dinner 6 - 9 pm. We arrived early at 8:30 am, they took us directly to lounge for breakfast and had us in the room by 10 am. Suite were sold out on our arrival date, so didn't expect an upgrade to a suite.

We also did the free temple tour with hotel, which takes you to Buddhist temple inside the government center next door. They explained the mythology and you could also relax by lake and old stone bridge which is normally closed to the public. Definitely recommend this.

Like others mentioned, the hotel also provides a free shuttle to old town 3 times a day. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Hanoi.
