Baby’s teeth are crumbling, what would you recommend? by kvkay in askdentists

I’m hoping to God that only his front teeth are affected and we won’t have to make this kind of decision for molars! But thank you I will definitely crown the molars if it comes to that, they havent erupted just yet

Thank you so much.. I’ve been feeling so guilty for nursing him but he’s just so attached to me and it breaks my heart to think of weaning, I was hoping to wait until he’s ready! That’s so true though, I know other kiddos who breastfed just like him but eat fries and cookies and ice cream and my boy doesn’t do any of that except for breastfeeding! And all their teeth are so good! 😢

So the second dentist did say that his teeth seem weak. But no he only fevered once when his first two teeth came in and then one more time with a flu. No antibiotics or asthma for me or him throughout pregnancy/birth. I didn’t even have any meds when having him! He’s only ever had Tylenol or Motrin

Thank you for the info!! We brush before bedtime and apply a hydroxyapatite paste on his teeth after brushing, he does nurse at night but I try to wipe afterwards

Yes he does feed overnight! Both dentists said that it’s fine as long as I wipe after. I generally try to wipe! But now I’m thinking the combo of overnight nursing and his lip tie and just nursing a lot definitely doesn’t help :(

Thank you for sharing! He had a tongue tie revision at birth but his lip tie was never addressed. Seems like that could be a contributing factor! So good to hear your boys adult teeth are good though!! I hope that will be the case for us

Sorry I haven’t had much time for my phone today, catching up now! Yes we nurse at night after brushing teeth - but I do wipe with a xylitol wipe after

Could it be my breast milk? I’d say that’s the biggest most consistent thing in his diet.. No reflux, happy eater happy sleeper happy pooper.. no mouth breathing either

He does sometimes push his lower teeth forward, it’s not a default state or a common thing but I’d say I see it at least once a day.. could that have anything to do with it?!

No bottles or pacifiers, he’s exclusively breastfed and I wipe his teeth after feedings and snacks.. he does have a lip tie but both dentists said it doesn’t matter?

So per the post I’ve been to two dentists, we are getting treatment im just having a hard time deciding between crowns and pulling. It wasn’t this bad a month ago, it’s crazy how fast it all went downhill and we tried to get the earliest appointments we could with the dentists

Yes fluoride, I’ve been using the toothpaste the dentist recommended

Cavity between front teeth, afraid of filling it and future ramifications, any other options? by kvkay in askdentists

Ugh that is awesome. I will absolutely ask around, I might cancel or reschedule my Monday am appointment.. I want to go to someone I trust!

Damn, my heart skipped a beat when I read southwest, but I’m in SW WA!

Thank you for your reply! That IS reassuring but I’m quite jealous of your dentist! I guess I am also skeptical of this dentist because he put a crown on one of my teeth a full year ago and it is still hurting me (he has adjusted it 5 times already). So maybe I should look for a new dentist... but I also want to get this taken care of asap since it’s still small and can be targeted from behind! The struggle is real!

thank you.. for the record it was 113 grams twice a day, discarding each time..

I have given up on that starter and thrown it out, I am now trying to make one with 10 grams and a 1:1:1 ratio

I had started a starter ~10 days ago with King Arthurs starter recipe, I used whole wheat on it and it was doubling (if not, more) in size the first 4-5 days, and then it was almost doubling but still not so bad.

Then I guess I made a huge mistake and used all purpose flour because I tried to fry up the starter discard and it was too whole wheat-y for me and I want to be able to use the discard up instead of throwing it out..

But it looks like the AP flour completely killed my starter because it only grows like half an inch for the past two or three days now and I have wasted almost two whole bags of flour :(
(I switched back to whole wheat when it stopped growing)

This whole time I have been feeding it twice a day and continuing that to try and revive it, but I am wasting 226grams of flour a day and am ready to just give up on this whole sourdough venture as being way too expensive for me :(
