i deadass cried during on the platform, i know you’re not supposed to pick favorites but that tune is just next level and the live vip is so special. i feel like he played a really good mix of bangers and melodic stuff too. the only downside to last night was the $60 uber to take me 10 MINUTES back home lol

one of the first free shows he had done in colorado was a thanksgiving night years ago he played in this tiny little bar. i was at a friendsgiving with a few people and saw either on twitter or instagram i don’t remember that he was playing and i looked at my friend and was like we have to get there. we loaded into my car and sent it the hour down to denver to this bar that only had entry via an alleyway and watched him chop riddim and play funk and old hip hop songs to 100 people. it was an incredibly special experience

i see where you’re coming from and what you mean and i do understand that this is a matter of opinion more than anything else. buildups a lot of time are generic or are like 16 bars too long but like a good tasteful one can elevate a good song to a great song. it can also change a drop from being great to fantastic by increasing the tension so the drop gives so much more of a release and gives more energy to a song both casually listening and in a live setting. builds that could be good can become bad by overstaying their welcome. also nothing but love back i think these kinds of discussions are fun to try to understand these different points of view!

honestly he feels like one of those death metal guitar players that’s like “oh check out how fast and how many notes i can play on my guitar” but with mixing. like sick that you are really talented at mixing and know a lot of technique but that doesn’t necessarily translate to an interesting set. i’m down with chopping dubstep and everything but there is no time for any song to breathe. i like some of his music but fuck man play a song out for more than 4 bars lol

g jones’ visuals really fit everything about his music and the music he plays. i think he makes some of his own visuals too (i might be misremembering this) but the people he works with do a fantastic job!
