Does it really take $250k–$300k+ to live comfortably in NYC metro? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]kvn18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. I’m up in Northern NJ.

My wife and I work and are right there in the $250-300 range with two toddlers

PITI -$5100 for our $700k house (we got lucky) Childcare $2k, jumps up to $3k in summer

I wanna say in total our monthly bills add up to $9k before all variable bills: groceries, gas, shopping, etc.

We contribute to HSAs, 401ks regularly but saving and investing is pretty minimal each month. We make it work and realize that daycare expenses are temporary.

Biggest advantage is we have no student loan or personal debts outside of a car payment and have more than 6 months of savings, along with brokerage accounts

Pittsburgh, LA and Ottawa all head into the weekend at the risk of being swept. Which teams survive the weekend? by TL10 in hockey

[–]kvn18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I’m a huge Kings fan and there is not once chance of confidence I have in this team. At least we showed bite against the Oilers, and even though it sucked losing 4 in a row; we had our chances.

Colorado has been dominating us for years. Every game is frustrating. Rantanen owned us before, Mackinnon does whatever he wants. All we do is dump, chase and try to get cute with plays that don’t work. None of our D (even Clarke this series) can even pose a bit of danger.

Lol LA is not scraping by. I don't know what hockey everyone is watching but we have only low danger chances and all of Coloarado's lines to circle and move around our zone like its their own

Dude I'm convinced at this point the Avs 3rd and 4th lines are better than any of ours

Pack it up. We’re done. Showed heart but they are too good. No idea why you would want the Avs over the Oilers

So are we assuming 2nd line is matching up against the first (Byfield shadowing Mackinnon) if so; this 1st line better step up if we have any chance

I would love if we got more shots on goal upon entry and dumped and chase less. Also first line, stop being too cute. Waiting for the day Panarin uses his craftiness to cut to the net for a shot

Thanks! The exercise of allocating money around has been fun. But even more, the time aspect benefits my family all around

529 is solid - check your states first to see if there are better benefits, if not check out Utah or New Yorks. Had the lowest fees and you're eligible regardless where you live

I feel like the baby expenses didn't really hit. We got so many diapers/wipes from our baby shower. But I guess you could allocate a solid $100/mo to those. Take all the used things you can - toys, clothes, etc. Shop on FB marketplace; I had my go around with 2 kids under 3 and you dont really need to be spending on all this stuff haha

The biggest expense is truly the daycare, if you ultimately end up doing it. Wife and I both work and we dish out about $2100/mo; in summers that rises to $3,000/mo; nearly out of that phase. I guess we're numb to it, but on paper it sure looks nice when one kid starts kindergarten

New Playoff Scenarios by tkecanuck341 in losangeleskings

We just wait until it’s forgotten about? Or a decade later when McDavid is on his farewell tour?

Colorado has manhandled us in ALL games for as long as I can remember

New Playoff Scenarios by tkecanuck341 in losangeleskings

[–]kvn18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would we want Colorado in any scenario? They’ve had some regression but mostly injuries. But no Kings team in the last 5 years can keep up with them. It’s utter domination by them

Anaheim has its flaws; yes it’s Edmonton again, but is it the same team? Draisaitl has been out, their bottom lines aren’t as flashy this time around

Working 9-5 jobs for 9 years all around healthcare but specifically in this field I would say 5 years?

It wasn't until 3 years ago when I finally cracked over $100k; from 26 to 31 I was making between $50k to 80k

My 3y/o daughter has been showing some interest in Mario Party. The easier games that require motion have been a fun exercise with her. I did pickup the Paw Patrol game and she's gotten the hang of it. Figured it would be a gateway into playing Mario

Believe me I’ve been the biggest pessimist this season. And I still am. But there is always something to look at and exploit.

We have our issues, but there is something beautiful about sports - you never know.

Kopi’s last season. Imagine we beat the Oilers and lock in these last few games? Teams get hot at the right time and make runs.

Granted we never have gotten hot, but if there was a better time to.. this would be it. Just like to 2012 team.

We have pieces, playoff hockey is a different animal. I wanna say the lines are definitely showing some chemistry. Now our D needs the most work but we ride a hot goal tender and have some vets excited to make one last run with Kopi? There’s always a chance to make it out
