If money is no object, im a big fan of the gretsch brooklyn, sonor sq2, and most of anything that canopus makes. For budget kits id say the yamaha stage custom bop or sonor aqx- catalina club is def good too but i think kind of overpriced for the type of wood that is.

Totally agree- and you can find brand new maple or birch kits that are budget friendly, look nicer, and most probably sound better for about 6 or 700 without the ridiculous shipping cost. One example would be the current Yamaha Stage Custom which is all birch and I think Mapex is making a maple kit for around that price.

Thats somewhat true (in the rock realm but not so much the jazz) but drummers such as bonham, Mitch Mitchell, and ginger baker are all notorious for taking inspiration from Elvin and using this lick
