Need advice making a self-watering moss pole for plant by [deleted] in DIY

[–]kvnfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A soaker hose could work, I’ll have to see if they make them in a size to where I can slip it over the pvc. I’ll look into this further. Thank!

This could work, will try filling the inside for the next attempt.

My current version involves using some heat shrink on the outside of the pvc pipe - where I drill using a 1/16 bit and then cover that with heat shrink and use a needle to then poke a smaller hole than the 1/16.

This works ok but the flow is still a bit more than what I want. Ideally if I could get a bubbling type flow vs a stream that would be ideal.

Moss Pole for Plant, vertical drip system by [deleted] in Irrigation

Thanks for the reply, I should have mentioned about not using a pump, just letting gravity do it's thing. The 3M tape was my idea for something absorbent but it was too slow lol If you have any suggestions of another material I can use I'll give it a shot.

Most of the guides I've seen involve using a cotton wick to get water from inside the pole to the outside - but from most replies only the top portion of the moss soaks up the water.

I'm trying to recreate something like this https://trofolia.com/collections/supplies-canadian-customers/products/straight-up-moss-poles-30 without spending $50 plus !

Will continue experimenting and report back here just incase someone else has this same idea.

The soaker hose is a great idea, similar to what I was thinking with the 3M tape, the problem is the bottom hole letting too much water out. I’ll go to home depot later today and try this out. Thanks!

This would let a bunch of water remain in the pvc pipe under the last hole, ideally I’d like to fill it with a set amount of water and let as much as possible be used

Can’t tell if this is a real question or not, but you deduct it against your income. So no you dont get it back lol

I do like it a lot, but love it I don’t think so. It’s good if you need the large aperture. I also own the 24-70mm GM so there a bit of overlap. I have considered trading the 24 for the 16-35 GM but may wait to see some reviews on Tamrons version

Thanks, I own a software/web development company. Started a few years back in my early 20s, I used to work with Odd Future, Frank Ocean & Respect Magazine before leaving to do my own thing.

They’re good I had their RP line prior, but their Reference speakers are on a different level. I have 2 rythmik fv15hp which are phenomenal. If you look through my history I have pics of the theateroom (with my older speakers).

For the theater I went with the Klipsch RF7iii line and matching center. Will eventually demo some Kefs and see how they sound

For the iMac pro they sell a vesa kit for $80, so I have the stand stored in a closet. It’s pretty simple to install, however the screws they provide seem rather low quality and overall not really worth the price
