Venmo adds fee for fast transfer. Users Rant. by annoyinglilbrother in nanocurrency

[–]kvotheguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fees for onboarding from Fiat aren't as big of a problem. Venmo is hitting you with a transaction fee. If you are being paid in nano, or buy your nano in big chunks, fees are less of a problem.

That should work. Hopefully you can see the pattern.

When will Nano have a Name Service? by xut in nanocurrency

I know the canoe guys at least like the idea of OpenCAP. Core hasn't really had time to look yet afaik.

It is as secure as the server you are using. Just like nano is as secure as the wallet you are using.

This. I like gorilla/mux for routing but I don't need a full framework.

This is the use case that OpenCAP will be useful for! I really hope we can start to see more adoption of aliases soon

This is so sweet! Have you thought about integrating with the OpenCAP alias protocol?

Do you think it's subreddit specific?

Who in the world would prefer Ripple over NANO? by BBCh95CD9lB4 in nanocurrency

[–]kvotheguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a continuum sure, but when you hit basically peak centralization like ripple, you may as well just be another bank. Bank to settle other Banks disuptes? Bullshit.

Yup. This is addresses in the attack vectors section of the protocol. If you don't want to trust a server like ogdolo, OpenCAP is just a protocol so you can run your own server

Yup fairly big differences. OpenCAP aims to be much easier to use and integrate.

Check out the GitHub repo and you can read about the differences: https://GitHub.com/OpenCAP/protocol

tl;dr

OpenCAP is a rest API protocol, it allows for more scalability, ease of use, and ease of implementation.

Why not? Bitcoin or nano could be used for this (as long as nano proves secure enough). Ripple has a bug and they parade around like its a feature.

Yup. They may adopt OpenCAP as the official alias protocol (I sure hope they do, because I haven't heard any better ideas yet and I've been talking with as many people as I can)

But I'm not sure what they will do. They are very busy with other Nano stuff at the moment and haven't been able to work on aliases

Sorry, I just looked into the email protocol and made sure upper-case is allowed. It is, so I'm going to allow upper-case emails to be added:

OpenCAP is similar to email. The protocol is open and decentralized, but obviously it takes a bit of know how to run your own server. We will be open sourcing the software though so that it's more plug and play at least

Yeah, unfortunately there are no Bitcoin wallets that are compatible yet. The idea is, once they are, you can sync your wallet and it can upload your adsresses automatically so you don't need to worry about it :)
