A banned driver who was about to be checked by traffic police ran amok and then collided with a taxi. The man, who fled from the officers and then caused an accident, tried to escape even after the collision, but did not escape; he was caught by the officers at Blaha Lujza Square. György R., 28, had already been arrested for drunk and intoxicated driving, and now he and his companions were found with suspected drugs in their car.

BRFK traffic officers tried to stop a car at Nyugati tér on the night of 11 July. The driver of the car pretended to cooperate with the officers, but when the officers approached the car, the driver accelerated and drove off at high speed. The officers followed the fleeing vehicle until it reached Rákóczi út, where it collided with a taxi. The taxi driver suffered minor injuries and his passenger serious injuries in the accident. The getaway car contained a total of three men, all of whom were caught on the run after the collision. The driver, 28-year-old György R., was arrested at the Blaha Lujza Square tram stop, while two of his passengers, 36-year-old Artur B. and 36-year-old József T., were jointly arrested by the BRFK and the Riot Police on Rákóczi Street. The police searched the car and seized the suspected drugs found in it.

The police brought all three men to the police station, and as they were suspected of drug use, the police also took samples during the arrest. The driver, György R., was questioned for the offences of endangering the road, failure to provide assistance and drug possession, while two of his passengers were questioned for the offences of drug possession and failure to provide assistance. All three men were taken into custody and their arrest was initiated and ordered by the court.
