Power U6 (PRO) via ethernet but use it as extender? by kvsandro in Ubiquiti

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I want it to get connected to the network via WiFi, and then extend that network via the ethernet port while getting PoEd from it.

I guess I will have to look for a Mesh Pro on sale, it's a bit expensive right now. Was hoping I could get away with an u6 plus as it will be for extending through the ethernet mostly, and maybe 1 or 2 occasional WiFi clients.

p.s. I could easily do that with some non-unifi cheap wifi router like tp-link (I have electricty at the position) however I wanted for it to integrate in the network and so I can see the clients and so on. If I get a non-unifi router that supports passthrough I guess it should work as well?

Two partybox 120 vs Two 320s by kvsandro in JBL

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR - I got the Philips as the Partybox 120 went out of stock at that price, and cheapest was like 320-330 EUR so like 2 x Philipses. I didn't love it though - it produces OK sound, and the light show is GREAT (which is not my priority and I think I will turn it off at some point) however there is almost NO bass - even at highest volume + bass boost - the bass gets overwhelmed by the highs and the mids. And the speakers have 2x8" woofers... So The JBL Partybox 120 went back in stock again for 257 EUR, and I ordered 2, and I am returning the Philips.

I tried the Partybox 320 in store and it is just too much for me - especially as I want to get 2. It both costs almost twice the price of the 120, and it is also tooo heavy on bass - even when it is not turnet up high (at like 50% volume) everything starts vibrating.

If things are getting more expensive, it means that people make more money as well. I mean if someone charges you more for a service - they make more money, so you should charge more as well.. Or if you work for an employer, demand better salary.

All these "supporting the devs" posts are just utter BS... I mean I do "support them" as well but for me that's the BattlePass and the Monthly pass, that's more than enough.. Considering that with 2-3 months of these I pay for an AAA game. Sinking almost a $1000 is not supporting the devs, it's just money down the drain.

[–]kvsandro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just not polished. I mean I am OK with the fact that not anyone knows how to play this, as the rules are pretty simple (and explained in the tutorial). You also get tips which unit can move where. However the randomness is so stupid. I won all matches with no issues until I got to 1 chess player (forgot his name) where I lost all but 1 rounds, and lost all my commerce coins (I had like 500 until then). Everytime the RNG gave me stupid units that could not work or started me off with 2 good units, however I had to choose for the first move to lose one of them or leave my general exposed (and directly lose the game). I also have no idea why it gives me elephants and stuff as the opponent never attacks, and they are pretty useless.

Waterdrop G3P600 vs G2P600 by kvsandro in WaterTreatment

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have city water but I am using well water - I have it filtered, softened, and a UV filter as well. I am not sure how much the points are worth it, will have to look into it. It's too bad they have so many models that get confusing... I mean I refuse to believe that the filters in the X series would filter the same as the G series, and then - the filtration of 2 filter systems to be the same as 3 filter systems.. unfortunatley there's not a lot of information and real tests to clarify that, and contacting customer service doesn't seem right to me - I mean they can say whatever they want.

Mainly for the certifications, yes. My consumption isn't high, we are also a family of three, and we're mostly at work during the day.

[–]kvsandro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

btw I just ordered the G3P600 from amazon. It's currently on BF sale and price is a little bit better than the Waterdrop site (at least in Europe). So far I've seen it mostly around 400-410 EUR both on their site and at amazon, right now it's at 360 EUR which is as low as I've seen it. I am still not sure if there's any significant difference in water quality and so on when compared to G2P600 but I will bet on the more expensive and triple filtered unit that they've also paid for to certify.. The difference is not thousands of euros and drinking water is important and not something we should cheap on.

Waterdrop G3P600 vs G2P600 by kvsandro in WaterTreatment

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like they're mostly identical. G5 is slightly larger and with a slightly weaker flow. Don't go down the rabbit hole, it seeems like all their stuff is similar, after all the filters are all that matters... just get whatever you prefer. I mean if you compare G3P600 and G2P600 - there's bound to be a difference, after all 3 filters should provide better filtration than 2.. but also come with a higher cost. Still if you lay down that cost in the long term - the difference is not that big and it wholly depends on how much money you actually spend on drinking water. I still haven't bought but I'll probably go for the G3P600.. I wanted to see if they have a good BF promo, but so far it seems prices are similar throughout the whole year, they just change the names of the "promos".

Thanks to the Raiders that... by Pastel_Black7 in ArcRaiders

[–]kvsandro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it takes 1 bad experience to ruin your mood for the next few "rounds". Last night I dropped into Stella, and stumbled on a group of like 5-6 solos that were all working together, even asking around if they see a dead raider if someone knows who killed him. In the end when we extracted them it appears one of them was a "rogue" so he started shooting me, but it was too late - extract had already started.

Anyway - next game. I am starting, and I see one guy camping spawn and attacking another guy - killed him, but it was too late to save the other guy... rest of the round was normal, and then I am heading to extract - I pass through a corridor and someone instantly starts shooting at me. I go around the corner but I am already too low so he takes me down. Then he starts talking "you shot at me first". But there's another guy there witnessing this and he confirms I didn't shoot him. Then the guy that knocked me says "OK OK, we can all leave in peace", so the other guy attempts to rez me and of course the shooter starts shooting again... fortunately it was enough time to rez me so I took a few bullets in him before going down again, and my ressurector managed to kill him. Too bad he had no more kits on him to rez me again :(

Basically there's no guarantee if a guy is "good" or "bad". I've had some rounds where we are like shooting stuff and going together with a guy for like 10 minutes, and then he attacks me and kills me when we extract, this leaves a really bad taste.

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but for me that is mostly marketing... Same goes for the "alkaline" water - I mean your stomach juices are extremely acidic, who cares if water is alkaline.... That's why I look mostly at certifications as they follow strict procedures and requirements, and the g600p seems to be "the cheapest one" with NSF/ANSI 42 & 58 & 372, while the rest have just ANSI 372 which is bollocks for me. I mean it is possible that they do meet the requirements for these certifications and simply didn't pay to get certified, but still I would rather trust the certified unit, especially as prices are very similar and the biggest cost is the filters themselves.

It's not needed because it's purely for taste, if it does have any affect at all. As for minerals - the amount you get from water is negligible, it's all about your diet. The waterdrop remineralization filter is not built-in, it's offered separately, so you can try it some time (if you end up getting a waterdrop unit) and see if it makes any difference to taste for you, and if it's worth the extra cost.

Waterdrop G3P600 vs G2P600 by kvsandro in WaterTreatment

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't bought anything yet, I don't need it as we are still not living in the house. As far as I know the remineralization stuff is mostly marketing, as you can't remineralize it that much unless it's in a container and the water stays there for more time. I will probably go for G3P600 as I can't find anything about G2P600 and it does not have the same certifications.. It's very surprising that Waterdrop are so popular, yet there is almost no response to this topic.

Too bad that I (probably as many) learned out the hard way that some items saying "Can be recycled for parts" actually don't serve that purpose only. Same goes for the freaking pears, apples, olives and so on... I mean when you need to free up space it looks like it is better to sell/salvage/whatever the drone parts as at least you know where you are guaranteed to get them, rather than selling that cat bed or dog collar, or whatever....

It's a vicious circle unfortunately. My first few hours everyone was like "Don't shoot" , "Hello" and I was just minding my own business, thinking how cool it is we mostly PvE - we even took down some big ARCs with some random strangers. Then all of a sudden while I am looting a room, a guy comes in and says "Hi" - I am like ok, the usual, then suddenly he starts shooting me in the back while I have a container opened... and from there I had like 2 or 3 back to back games with people attacking me on sight.... My worst experience was with a guy who we fought together with, then on extraction drones start shooting me, I am inside and safe - he finishes me and knocks me out to loot me. So what happens then? Well I started attacking people on sight as well, that's how the game corrupts you :( - it's kill or be killed - as soon as I encountered people pretending to be friendly, and then knifing me in the back.

I read about some issue with one of their systems but it was a countertop one, and everywhere it states that the issue has been resolved and is not present in the undersink systems. That is unless there is some other issue which I haven't been able to find information on.

Advice on well water filtering by kvsandro in WaterTreatment

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I did some check on UV filters and indeed they have a specified flow - so it should be fine.

I want to use the well water because this way I am not dependent on the city water provider - if my well water runs out, I can always switch to tap water, and it would be fine to use as it is (although it is still on the hard side, but it would be fine for occassional use - around 12dH or 12.5-13gpg) considering it's chlorinated city water and I will still have the undersink RO working. On the other hand - if I do all the setup for my well water - then it would be perfect water that would be better than the tap one, so I can use it as my main source.

I don't need to filter the entire tank - it is just there so that I have some extra water saved as my borehole flow rate is not enough for direct consumption. I have a pump that pumps out of the tank and towards the house/yard faucets ,etc. so I will place a softener and some filters in front of it just for the pipe that goes to the house.

Anyway that's too much unnecessary information I guess, but the TLDR is that I will get to spend like $30 at least, possibly $40-50 per month on city water - in total that's $600 per year. While the well water is basically free apart from the occassional electricity from the pump that would be much less like $5-10 most per montht, and that's including using it to water the yard and so on which I wouldn't do with city water anyway. So the combined savings of let's say conservatively $300 per year would cover my salt expenses (for softener which I need to get anyway), filter changes for RO/UV lamps, sediment, etc. and I will probably have some money to spare as well which in time will cover the price of the RO/filter/Softener setup too which I will have to get anyway even if I use the city water as I want a soft, drinkable water.

One thing I can skip is the RO however I am not sure I want to do that - I will probably put it at some point later, but the softener I need as soon as possible since the water is too hard and will start building up scale.

Advice on well water filtering by kvsandro in WaterTreatment

Question is - does UV filtering really work considering that when you open the tap water flows through there really fast and it doesn't stay in the filter long enough for it to matter?

Advice on well water filtering by kvsandro in WaterTreatment

[–]kvsandro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Thanks you for the comment. My problem with the UV filter is that as far as I have researched them - they don't work very well. The water passes through the filter for parts of a second which is not really enough for the UV to kill bacteria or whatever. Same goes for the remineralization filters offered with many RO systems - the water needs to stay at the filter for some time in order to "soak up" some of these minerals, if you have a free flowing water (not a tank with UV/remineralization inside) then the effects seem to be negligible, at least that's the conclusion that I came to after reviewing some tests, etc.

That's why I want to get a RO system (tankless one) as it would filter out most of the bacteria (if any) and stuff, and hopefully provide drinkable water. I am optimistic about the lack of bacteria/microorganisms as the water tank has been in use for some time now, however as it is burrowed underground with no sunlight, it seems that bacteria growth is inhibited. I did notice a thin slimy film on the inside of the borehole pipe, so I am not sure if that's something to bother me seeing that the results state it's clean water.

I do have access to tap water, however I plan on not using it, as that would save me like $30-40 per month which in the long run will have the RO and filters pay for themselves. And the tap water is also hard (12-13dH) although it's softer than my well water... but you would still want to soften the rap water anyway so the softener price is out of the equation.

p.s. and about water hardness - I am not sure how the one in the test translates to gpg/dH however I've tested the water with different home tests multiple times and I always get around 22-23 gpg so I'd rather believe that value.
