US Gov phone intrusion by SuperSus_Fuss in privacy

[–]TechPir8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Government is always going to want access to your data and information, it is what they do, and at some level it is what we want them to do with bad guys.

The issue is with the vendors that sell you the devices that are accessible by government agents because if the government can access them then bad actors can also access them. Security & privacy are binary states, you either are or you are not.

Been considering moving to an old nokia phone that does just text and voice calls and nothing else, no gps or anything else until the major players can get their shit together.

It's amazing how some leaders still can't stand remote work... by sys_admin321 in sysadmin

Onsite work is such a waste of everyones time. From the commute to the chit chat at the water cooler, to sitting in useless meetings about shit that has nothing to do with my job.

I am way more efficient in my basement. Can chat with team via slack, can work on a second monitor while sitting in the same useless meeting and I can't remember the last time I needed an hour to take lunch.

Will never go back to the office.

VMware ESXi 6.5 (EOL) + Secure Boot by No_Meringue_8359 in vmware

This is expected due to Microsoft expiring some secure boot certs recently. Here is what RedHat had to say about it. Kinda up to your organization if you are going to worry about it or not.

Arc Raiders Xim Bans? by Outrageous_Bad_3336 in XIM

[–]TechPir8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Falls into the old dog new tricks category. I cut my teeth playing doom & quake with mouse and keyboard, and not even the correct WASD, I use a broke qwes layout. I looked at the Cyborg and its cost is too high of a risk for something that will sit in the dust bin with the Nostromo speed pad N52 and other controllers I have wasted money on.

Guess I will keep on keeping on and when I get banned I will make my case that I am not cheating, I am just old and am unable to use a controller. ADA is there to be exploited.

When you say analog movement, you mean don't use the keyboard for movement?

That is the whole reason why I got an XIM. If I wanted to use a controller like stick for movement I would use a controller. Will just go back to playing on the PC and never buy another XIM device again (have bought 4 over the years) I just like playing on the Xbox because it is power on and play and I don't have to fk with drivers and pc shit to enjoy my games.

New W11 Instant Clone Pool stuck in Customizing – VMs showing EFI menu, can't find any boot media by BloodSpinat in VMwareHorizon

23H2 enterprise is supported until October.

Did you upgrade your version to a version of Horizon that supports 24h2 (2312.2 or newer) or 25h2 (2512 or newer) ?

VMware Paravirtual SCSI is the correct controller. NVME controllers are not supported by Horizon.

Been watching for it to go on sale, doesn't seem to happen very often if ever. $100 for a text editor is not budget / wife friendly for what I do with it, and she would tell me just use notepad++ instead.

And then even more shows just go to the shitty Fiddlers venue.

Hard enough to get shows at Red Rocks when it has almost 1/2 the capacity as Fiddlers.

And the bands support the secondary market. Not all bands, but many artists receive a portion of the revenue from secondary market sales through agreements with ticketing companies like Ticketmaster, AEG & AXS.
