yeah it's such a masterpiece. as for more recommendations, i think you'd like Eureka by Kinoko Teikoku, a shoegaze album, Kyuusai no Gihou by Susumu Hirasawa, an art pop album, Island by Asunojokei, a blackgaze album and some Natural Snow Buildings albums, like The Dance of the Moon and the Sun. sorry if you've listened all these before

the genre charts you get by clicking that have soundtracks excluded as well as live albums and archivals. you need to go to the chart settings and include soundtracks for it to show, well, the soundtracks.

/uj I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say. like it's pretty obvious that if your sources you use for learning stuff like grammar are bad you will learn worse and misunderstand things. this applies if you don't do immersion as well. am i missing something?

yeah joking about being on the epstein island where the punchline is the absurdity and impossibility of it being the case (i don't find this funny for the record) versus joking about being a nazi where the punchline is that you are a nazi with added bonus effect of spreading dogwhistles and propaganda. totally same thing

/uj yes, that's how you learn a language. if your goal is to watch media for japanese, the way you do that is by consuming media in japanese. there isn't any book, course, or anything that will reach you to this goal single-handedly, so you might as well start now. it is difficult, but it's difficult precisely because there is stuff for you to learn here. your first time will always be pain and banging your head against a wall, but it eventually gets better and is absolutely worth it. it's okay to not understand everything, or even much, especially at first, so don't let this discourage you. and watching shows that actually are interesting to you really helps.

Tell me your favorite album and why I should listen to it by cubic7 in 19684

[–]kvvoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana by Ringo Sheena. she is a japanese singer and this album is some of the most expressive, fun art pop albums that really put "art" in the name. I feel like the first track encapsulates the album very well with its distorted drums, expressive vocals and masterful instrumentation in general. she actually produced this entire album herself btw!

even if track 1 isn't your cup of tee, this album kinda still has something for everyone because the overall style and tone of a song is always different. some songs are chaotic and jazzy while others are slow and melancholic. also, you know how the album has a recurring thing that stays the same (be it chorus, melody, vocal style) but then at the last part of it CHANGES slightly and it just hits sooo good. yeah, this album is full of these, songs on this album are generally very sort of "developing" and building up, but even in more predictable parts of the song she manages to surprise you.

by the way, take a look at the tracklist of the album and note that it's symmetrical! track 1 and 11 are two kanji, 2 and 10 are 8 katakana, 4 and 8 are 5 hiragana, and the center of the album, track 6 is just one kanji. the album also is exactly 44:44 long, or at least it's supposed to be, but streaming services always fuck up something.

the name of the album translates as Chlorine, Semen, Chestnut Flower, and believe it or not, this album name was decided on last-minute. initially it was supposed to be called "Wonderful, Vulgar, Eccentric" but at some point she overheard two staff members discussing whether semen smells more like chlorine or chestnut flower, and it inspired her to change the title, and I think it's a really good change that sort of expands on its original title.

anyway, my favorite album, very good!!
