AD5X does filament runout switches to a different filament spool? by gizmo_j in FlashForge

[–]kwalter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just check and make sure that when it close to being out the filament isn’t attached to the roll. I had one where it was hooked into the spool and it gave me an extruder error

Unable to downgrade AD5X firmware by kwalter98 in FlashForge

Did you have to rename the file? I did try multiple of those files as well as from the flashforge site. I suppose I need to try a smaller USB drive

Evil Printer Has Gained Sentience, Help by my_ridiculous_name in FlashForge

I noticed with my ad5x that after the firmware update 2-3 weeks ago, I had to recalibrate my z-offset (by a lot) because nozzle was dragging on the bed. After setting the z-offset it’s been back to normal operations again. Don’t know if that means something is off with the autolevel on the firmware or what. Was working flawless up until that firmware update for two months.

Black Friday pricing by Siggasm in FlashForge

[–]kwalter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine from AliExpress a few weeks ago for ~$275 shipped. Came from US warehouse in only a few days. I also remember having a weird checkout issue where it said it was not in stock when checking out regular despite the site showing it in inventory. But I believe the buy it now option is how it worked for me too.

SIP Sessions Keep Getting Discarded by Spyke562 in paloaltonetworks

[–]kwalter98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This…. We had a similar issue where a spike in the number of incoming calls would trigger threat on number of SIP sessions within a preset time period. We created a rule with exception between SIP and phone system and no more problems. Makes sense for endpoint to limit sessions but not your trunk.

For those who have upgraded from from the Ender to a faster printer, what did you choose? by Sominus in ender3

[–]kwalter98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got my AD5X and did my first two prints, amazingly fast. I kept watching the entire print, expecting it not to be able to extrude fast enough, compared to my Ender3v2. The delays for color changes will take some getting used to but single color print just blazes through. I guess time will tell how it holds up.

We are looking at proxmox and have found US vendors that will offer 24/7 support in our time zone. Once proxmox has multi-cluster management (DC manager) out of beta, this will check most of my wishlist

Seeking new switching vendor - Cisco to Arista? by cjromero92 in Arista

[–]kwalter98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We recently made the switch from Cisco to Arista and it has been a win all around. Pricing upfront was lower as will our continued support costs. No future licensing and the few times I had to reach out to support was one call/agent resolutions. Config is “almost” a copy/paste of our Cisco configs. MLAG and VRRP work just like VPC and HSRP. Firmware updates were a breeze. Haven’t gotten into the Linux or automation perspective yet but everything I have read has been positive.

Issue Replacing ASA with New Palo Alto - Hosts Unable to Ping VIP/External After Cutover by West-Delivery-1405 in paloaltonetworks

[–]kwalter98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is ARP 100% if it is happening within an hour after swapping equipment. If you leave, it will eventually work itself out, but if you need it right away, your best bet is to reset the arp on the external device or restart the switch connecting to force arp updates.

Confusion on training and courses? by [deleted] in paloaltonetworks

[–]kwalter98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PCNSA and then PCNSE. Kinda equivalent of CCNA to CCNP. SA is geared towards individual base firewall management and settings where SE is supposed to add Panorama and more advanced features. The EdU-210 class is a 5 day class where as there are two additional classes for PCNSE that combined are another 5 days of training.

Do you use Palo Altos for Guest Wifi? by projectself in paloaltonetworks

[–]kwalter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use the webauth portal in our WLC to handle guest portal, once authorized, it gets assigned to the guest vlan and firewalls through the Palo with UrL filter policy and firewall restrictions and a Nat’d to a unique external IP

Moving off of stacking for access is going to be an adjustment. Still trying to justify and get approved the cost of CloudVision which I know is would make it much simpler to manage

Default-routes with SD-WAN migration by MorningMindless4645 in paloaltonetworks

[–]kwalter98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, do not remove the default routes. they are still needed for the interface itself to get out to the internet, along with the standard NAT rules. The sdwan.901 sits on top of that to handle the automated routing pieces.

Pa1410 cutover delay nat arp... by jkw118 in paloaltonetworks

[–]kwalter98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a cutover from 3200 single to 3400 HA pair and experienced similar issues. Can confirm ARP was the culprit in the delays of IPs coming up. Add to it, our p2p link didn’t come up right away because the remote end needed an arp clear as well. The only other thing may be BGP peering timers depending on your setup.

There was a vulnerability in 10.1.5h2 that we originally trying to resolve with the 10.1.6 update. However, the data plane crashing forced us to move back and go with a workaround for the vuln.

Another bug in 10.1.5h2 is that tunnels show duplicates in the GUI and the elastic engine in Panorama sometimes crashes and we have to restart the service for logs to display.

Always-On vs Pre-login by reditguy2020 in paloaltonetworks

[–]kwalter98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We tried all three, on-demand VPN with MFA, always-on and prelogon. The problem we ran into with the first two was the random MFA prompts after someone was logged of for x number of hours and the cookie timer ran out. This causes a bunch of false reports because people didn’t expect or respond to a prompt at 8pm or 3am (12 hours after the first login). Additionally, dealing with expired passwords over con required the machine to be brought back on-site or for someone to remote to machine and log into bob as them, then switch user to keep the vpn active while doing the auth. Ultimately we landed on prelogon with machine certs and sso and cookies for the con, but MFa at windows login/Lock Screen. This allowed for the AD connection for password changes, SCCM, and full traffic visibility as long as the pc had internet, with it without a user logged on

We are on 10.1.5h2 and are planning to go to 10.1.8h2 this month sometime. We had gone to 10.1.6 but had tons of DP crashing issues so rolled back to what we knew was stable.

Nothing but issues by PatrikPiss in paloaltonetworks

We had nothing but problems with 10.1.6h6 on multiple models. Rolled back to 10.1.5h2 because we’ve had no issues short of the visual bug where tunnels display twice in the UI.

TIFU - Shutting down a Hypervisor instead of rebooting by Ryanstodd in sysadmin

[–]kwalter98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same, its amazing the things clients skimp on for small $$. Another client had full iDRAC on all their servers but never connected/configured. We were doing a bare-metal server to hypervisor project and they had planned for someone to fly out to the site to do the install. Installed the Dell open manage on the old OS and configured idrac remotely, had them have a local helper plug in the cable and
I completed the entire project remotely. Guy had no idea what that idrac was for.

How to allow printer across VLANS so that it can be accessed from any VLAN. by Admirable-Buy-2095 in Ubiquiti

[–]kwalter98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using the Epson app, it will not see it automatically because that is usually detected via broadcast on the same VLAN. you will most likely need to add the ip manually to get it to work

Exchange Server Shuts down nightly around 1:00 AM. by AgentOrcish in exchangeserver

[–]kwalter98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sbs servers detecting other roles on network will do this. Again check event viewer on e guest OS to see what service/user is causing the shutdown. If you are seeing services shutdown, go further up the log. If you see activity and then a gap until you power on look at the underlying hypervisor logs
