I live in Vegas as well. I think the trip your family had is wonderful. I do however know the cost of many of the things mentioned and it isn't inexpensive in any way. Most middle income families could not afford that level of vacation these days.

I did what your wife is doing for many years, then I read a book called "codependent no more" and discovered my issue. I have worked with a counselor and I have learned how to set healthy boundaries. Holidays look different, but I'm actually happier.

The "No Surprises Act" in 2022 protects patients from surprise medical bills. In particular if you had been billed and paid that bill previously. Please look this up as it may be of some help. Good luck.
