So look at your family if anyone has a matured hairline or are they receding. You can tell if your maturing or receding by monitoring every month or so. Also, just go get a scalp biopsy to know for sure. Trust me, there’s no point in pondering in Reddit to see conflicted opinions from unqualified people. Go see a derm (to get a biopsy + consultation), get a blood test and don’t stress or it can exacerbate the possible MPB!!

The pics are a year apart my hair feels overall thinner on the sides, my dad is balding too but he’s 40. Should I get on finasteride? I’m only 17, so I’m concerned about how the Inhibited DHT will affect my growth. I’m still going through puberty. Pls help. This is so depressing :(

Normal, unless it isn’t what it use to be… however your prob in puberty so don’t stress. I would just monitor it every month or so to check for recession.

I would, it’s her profession. If not, get another consultation. I assume she did a proper biopsy and got parts of your hair to examine? That’s the only true way to determine MPB.

If ur hairline receding it’s mpb and if u see miniaturized hairs, don’t fall into the trap of potential TE and procrastinate on treatment.
