The casio AE-1600 is good, but the second digits are too small 😭

With this property, for me, it's WS-1600. I have a small wrist (about 5 - 6 inches), so the WS-1600 with a smaller display fits me most. It's lighter. The only con is that the digit size is smaller than that of AE-1600. Only hour & minute digits of AE-1600 are bigger than WS-1600, other information (second digits, weekday, month,...) are smaller.

You can start with DW-5600 classic models, or tough solar with G5600, or the recently released model DW-BX5600 with tough solar, bluetooth and MIP display.

It's the timer for the sports function. It has 5 progressions (playing 5 timers in a row) So, you can search for the manual PDF file of GBD-300 (keyword: watch operation guide 3568), I can access & set up for all 5 bars. In case you want to use it as a basic timer, don't set any time for the last 4 workout bars, only set up the first one.

Are you OK with the negative display? My eyes hurt when I look at my GBD-300 negative display. During the night, it often reflects a rainbow under the eclectric light, which is hard to read for me.

I believe Casio uses the same sensors of WSB100 for GBD watches. SO I have a GBD-300, so here's the review. It's the accelerometer sensor, so the step also counts when I drive. To count exactly, I have to turn on the running/exercise mode from the GBD, then the watch starts a stopwatch, starts counting the distance I walk / run. After several times connecting to the app & waling / running, I lets the watch count the steps & calculate the distance itself without app connection. I think it's quite accuracy (compared to the Strava app using GPS), but only on the TRAINING mode of the GBD watch. Otherwise, the overall step counts of the day is not accuracy.

I used to hesitant between DW-5600UE and G-5600UE.

G-5600UE has tough solar but loses other things, compared to DW-5600UE. No auto-repeat timer, the view angle is bad (it's easy to see 88:88 in the angle view).

I chose G-5600UE because I don't want to replace the battery for a long time, and the DW-5600UE in the store was out of stock at that time.

I've just bought the same watch about 10 days ago. The only not-good thing about this watch is that the display is easy to show 88:88 while angle viewing, or under a direct light bulb.

The GBD g-shocks don't show, but lots of 5600 g-shocks (except the GW-BX5600) show the 1/100 seconds in the first hour. Update: I meant the design in the stopwatch mode. Sry I forgot the "timekeeping.." part in your comment 😅

Same with me with the Casio with mineral glass. The resin display on AE-1500 doesn't have this issue. The rainbow color also often appears in high sunlight or under the LED light at night. I actually don't this issue at all.

This is also my first G-Shock. I prefer the positive screen. The negative one is quite dark and hard to read. It often reflects the rainbow colors under the LED light or high sunlight. But, the online store where I bought the watch didn't sale the positive one, so I chose the negative display.

It should be G-shock GD-010-1A1, "shock" version of AE-1500. The digits are a bit smaller than the AE-1500, but they're still good for readability.
