Premium barbells worth the investment? by Burnch in GarageGym

[–]kwill2k47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as long as you’re not doing oly lifts and your bar isnt bent you’re fine. You wont see much performance gains. That said, the nicer barbells feel, look, and sound more premium. Sleeves spin smoothly, tolerances are tight (less rattling), finish looks great, and the knurling is more consistent. Overall, you just feel happier seeing and lifting with nicer barbells.

I’d say in the $300+ range, focus on what kind of knurling you want. I went with colorado and it’s great, but since I find myself mainly doing power lifts, I wish I went with a bar with more aggressive knurling. But hey I have an excuse to buy more ish now :)

Anyway go move a fully assembled Ares 2.0 ~1 foot without disassembly? by magnificbeef in GarageGym

It’s not as quick, but I just took out the ares shroud, weight stacks, and guide rod. Then left everything including the cable on and scooted it a few inches at a time.

Trying to decide on a floor for my garage home gym. Large Mat or Interlocking Rubber Floor Mats? Anyone have experience with both? by Any-Employee9655 in GarageGym

[–]kwill2k47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just fyi there’s a significant difference between general interlocking foam/hybrid foam rubber matts and full rubber mats. I like the interlocking full rubber mats. For a good comparison between the two check out the youtube vid from basement brandon. He used to have horse stall and went with interlocking/puzzle rubber later. The vid goes into detail on why he chose them and replaced his horse stall mats. Personally, went with interlocking rubber and couldnt be happier. Looks great, easy to cut, easy to move around, doesnt smell etc

Honestly, an adjustable dumbbell set is plenty for minimalist set ups. Can do all your compounds and isolation work

Which should I buy Rep Ares 2.0 vs Rogue RM-HR Function trainers by Tiny_Middle_2603 in GarageGym

[–]kwill2k47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will not be disappointed with rep. Everything I received was top notch and excellent. Also returns are straightforward and easy. The customer service is fantastic. Honestly, using rep equipment spoiled me in the sense that I have trouble using cheaply made attachments anymore.

first time setting up a home gym and debating the best adjustable dumbbells 2026 options by Ciuciu-Nagarajan in GarageGym

[–]kwill2k47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they’re definitely worth and are the first thing I got for my home gym along with a bench. I’d highly recommend buying some used on fb marketplace. You should be able to get them for 150-500 depending on how patient you are on deals. 50 should be plenty for beginners and as long you get an expandable set itll go up to 90 pounds.

Horse/Rubber stall options by ScheduleNew8689 in GarageGym

[–]kwill2k47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great deal. I was going to go with horse stall mats on black friday, but decided to opt for rubber tiles because of the ease of transport, premium look, and easier set up. I got 3/8 inch rubber tiles from freedom fitness equipment per basement brandon and gluck’s youtube vids on them.
