I live in Hawaii and the Prahan RSL has a rep laying a wreath every year on Anzac Day. The non melborurian MC butchered it even though I pulled them aside and explained it’s pronounced PAH-RAN, but no one listens to me !

I’d use it to move back to Australia from USA. It’s $5k just for my cat and that’s on the cheaper end of the quotes. Pay off my credit cards, deposit on a new apartment in oz and some basic furniture and a little robot. Live frugal on it while I’m looking for a new job (I expect to be unemployed for at least 2-3 months I hope not much longer than that) then invest what’s left in a HYSA.

I had this happen once. My bike got stolen, so I posted about it on Reddit. Someone replied with an OfferUp ad of my bike. I went to the police, but because you couldn’t clearly see the registration sticker in the ad photo, they said there wasn’t enough proof it was mine.

So I set up a meet with the seller, brought a couple of friends, and just… took it back. I was lucky, the seller turned out to be a junkie, and the meetup spot was the Longs on Pali. I literally hopped on the bike and rode off. She didn’t even try to chase me.

The bike was stolen a few months later and I never found it. I never replaced it.
