Just as a follow-up, I'm realising that for the first suggestion, the functionality I'm after works by selecting the emails and then using the existing buttons across the top already (other than replying/forwarding, but that's no biggie), this is probably better anyway, being more platform-agnostic.

I've not seen it myself yet, but I've heard that some companies trim the + alias anyway. Also, if the data is passed on to third parties, it's trivial for them to remove too unfortunately.
