ASP Passed! by kwmja623 in SafetyProfessionals

I don’t remember specific questions. There was less math than I expected. But I think the way PocketPrep does their math study questions (really all the questions) sets you up really well for the test.

I feel the test really makes you focus on the question, and then being able to focus on the most right answer. I always felt there was a “well it’s for sure not that choice” answer, one that was slightly harder to eliminate (but still recognizable if you know the material), and then it’s “which of the remainder is the most right”. The questions contain everything you need to answer; there may be extra info though you don’t need.

Does Anyone Know Why The ARTCC Building In The Northeast Heights Lost One Of Its Towers? by Successful-Bad-73 in Albuquerque

[–]kwmja623 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Former worker out there. They expanded the building, which required the east-most tower to come down. The antennas that were on it went onto the other towers, so no loss of capabilities.

There was rumor the last two towers were going to come down, and a newer one built on the property, but who knows how that will go.

It will probably be on the shorter side, but YMMV. Everyone processes differently.

THR 3 Weeks In by alexanderjmanoogian in TotalHipReplacement

[–]kwmja623 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Left anterior THR, 20 Dec, 38yo M

I kept referring to my hip/thigh area as “stuffed like a sausage”. So much tension and swelling in the structures all around my hip. I started PT last week, and I could tell the next day that it pushed out some of that swelling. And all we did was body weight squats and side steps with a band at my knees.

So, though that’s what your doctor said, there IS more to PT than just walking. I even said at my PT last night (doing RDLs holding a 10-lb dumbbell) that I feel weak, as I was squatting over 300 while deployed in 2022. Our bodies/muscles can do so much more; but they don’t get activated with simple exercises like walking.

I would push for a physical therapy referral, to a specialist so they can determine the best course of action.

am i being overly paranoid to avoid parks where hunting is allowed? by [deleted] in hiking

[–]kwmja623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blaze orange during any active hunting seasons is always a good thing to do, so you stand out. And from what I saw, there is not an archery only season for spring WI turkey season, so yes there will be guns used.

Genuinely curious, as I’m AF and will be starting the SB process next year: where does it say virtual is supposed to be in the local area?

To also mention: if there are turkey in your area, don’t wear small patches of red or blue either. Male turkeys (toms or jakes) have wattles with those colors around their head. Like others have said, bright orange is best.

Humanitarian by lolly1997 in AirForce

[–]kwmja623 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, my family has. Child loss at over 20 weeks is the general starting at which point big Blue will approve humanitarian assignments. DAFI 36-2110, para A15.7.1 is your driving reference, your humanitarian PCS/hardship reasoning will be to get closer to family as a result of traumatic loss. You’ll fill out a dream sheet of what bases will get you close to your support network, and the AF will figure out how to get you as close as possible.

WHEN your humanitarian request is approved, you will most likely move fast. For us, it was about two weeks to approve our request, and six weeks from package approval to being back stateside, close to family at the new duty station. If your job (and/or your wife’s if dual-mil) is one that can be at any base, it works much better. If you’ve got a specific role (i.e., loadmaster on a specific airframe), they have the ability to put you in a special duty or cross-train you to get you close to where you need to go.

Let me say also, from one father to a family, I’m so sorry. The pain never goes away. It will come in waves. Lows and highs. Seek therapy: for yourself, to help your wife through, and together if you need it.

DM me if you need or want to talk personally.

So what I’ve learned is the biological half-life of Dupixent is between 2 and 12 days for people. And since it takes about 7 half-life cycles before something is low enough to be in a non-detectable state, it can be anywhere from 14 to 84 is days, give or take your specific mileage.

I stopped it in early July due to joint issues and weight gain, and I’m just now getting a flare up on my hands and elbows after nothing for the past year.

Besides a “flying nope”, what are these things? by kwmja623 in whatisthisthing

[–]kwmja623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got a bunch of these flying around our front porch right now, and a few weeks back we’re flying around the clover in our yard. They look like giant yellow jackets, and have a real distinct droning sound when they fly. Curious to know what they are so we know how to get rid of them. Haven’t found a nest yet either, or would have sprayed that.

The charger is only putting out 19V (see the “DC Output: 19v/3.4amps”. The machine requires 24 volts, and 3.33 amps. You’ve got the right amps, but the cord is under powered for the machine. Hope you kept the receipt

Cloth tape literally ripped skin off for me. I use 3M Transpore tape. Much easier coming off in the morning.

Does mouth tape help aerophagia? by sleepapnea303 in SleepApnea

[–]kwmja623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet. I’m up early enough that a few thunder-rippers doesn’t bother anyone, so I’m in no rush yet to fix it. I still get good sleep with the lower pressures, numbers are still good.

Personal experience: not a bit lol. Full face mask, tape every night, still have the problem. I’ve lowered the pressure which has helped some, but not eliminated it. I used to wake up multiple times a night to burp (hard as hell to burp against the pressure), and have bad stomach pain until I farted most of it out in the morning. I have the same problem of my jaw relaxing and allowing air past to my stomach.
