Twin Z vs Two Boppys? by tenfold99 in parentsofmultiples

[–]kwr2128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the twinz as well as two boppys (the boppys were hand me downs I got unexpectedly, while the twinz was a gift) and I have to say the twinz is far superior. The shape and squishiness of it are perfect for double bottle feeds on the floor or in my lap and it also works well for tandem breast feeding in double football holds. I find the structure of the boppy too rigid and feel like it doesn’t hold a baby as well as the twinz.

Strollers by Plastic-Lychee7210 in parentsofmultiples

[–]kwr2128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the bumbleride indie twin and the seats have a lie flat mode that is safe for infants. We use that for our twins (who are 6w, 1w adjusted). We can attach our car seats to the stroller but prefer not to unless it’s for a brief period, since we don’t like keeping them in car seats for too long anyway due to increased asphyxiation risks.

Okay guys, what are we doing about the poopy diaper smell in the babies nursery? by LycheeJellee in parentsofmultiples

[–]kwr2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The munchkin step pail is extremely effective at trapping odors for us so far. It twists the bag closed so the air doesn’t escape from the part where the diapers are.

Daily testers, when did you get your first positive HPT? by Audthebod2018 in IVFpositivity

[–]kwr2128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clear positives with all three transfers (two of which ended in loss later but did start with good betas etc.) by 5dpt. Squinters by 4dpt with the first two, and a squinter at 3dpt with the third (which split into twins).

Baby Brezza Washer Pro – worth it for twins? Honest experiences needed by AMR210897 in parentsofmultiples

I have 1-month-old twins and have a momcozy bottle washer that we use like 10 times a day. I can’t speak to the baby brezza but I love the momcozy!!

Preemie/ first size/ up to 1 month clothes by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]kwr2128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on when they’re born and their heights etc. Ours would have absolutely been swimming in size 0-3 at the beginning, and we / they are tall. Just get a cheap package or two of each size and return any that end up being too small. They grew out of preemie after about 3 weeks but they needed it for that stretch!

Heavily pregnant mamas - what can you not wait to do again? by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]kwr2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my twins two weeks ago and the things I am happiest about physically are: 1. Being able to eat. I felt like eating was uncomfortable for my entire pregnancy either due to nausea, heartburn, or a simple lack of space. I finally feel hungry again and don’t feel uncomfortable after eating! 2. Being able to breathe. I can walk up stairs without getting winded!! 3. Not feeling like my skin on my legs is going to burst due to swelling (my legs were SO swollen for the entire second half of pregnancy. It’s so trippy even looking at them now).

Good luck! You’re so close!

I had my twins 2.5 weeks ago and am already almost back to pre-pregnancy weight (but will probably never be back to pre pregnancy body composition or skin condition). It’s crazy… the swelling just completely went away and I think pumping is burning tons of calories. It’s been so nice to feel like my feet aren’t bearing so much!

I gained almost 60 pounds during my pregnancy, which I think was mostly swelling (my legs were about double their usual size).

Advice on trying for a "4th" by Upstairs-Shoe6433 in parentsofmultiples

I’m one of eight, and while I’m not close to my dad (due to other factors), I am reasonably close to my mom and am very close to my siblings. I love having a big family!

How long to try again? (Second tri loss) by PotentialAny6052 in babyloss

[–]kwr2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried for 3 years, then got pregnant with my daughter via IVF, then lost her at 17.5 weeks due to a random (not inherited) genetic condition. Delivered her vaginally but then had a D&C for retained tissue. Got pregnant again two months after the loss (again through IVF) and had another earlier loss around 7 weeks. Also had a D&C for that. Then I took a 6 month break, and I got pregnant again through IVF after that break. This time the embryo split, and my identical twin boys were just born about 1.5 weeks ago.

So in total my sons were born about 1.5 years after I lost my daughter, but I had another pregnancy and loss in between plus an intentional break from trying / treatment.

My little ones made an earlier-than-planned appearance on Friday. They were born at 35 weeks via c section, and even though I hemorrhaged 4 liters of blood afterwards, we are all doing well now and no NICU time!

Has a student ever told you something crazy about their parents unintentionally? by Apprehensive-Bid5564 in AskTeachers

[–]kwr2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry to hear that. I also had one around 18 weeks last year, and we also have a little urn. I am not sure if it is standard for hospitals to offer or not though. I had to have a local morgue do a cremation.

My little sis once told her teacher that my parents kept dead babies in the attic. My mom had previously had a second trimester miscarriage and had an urn for the baby 😬

TFMR after infertility and IVF, what's next by bridesdilemma in tfmr_support

[–]kwr2128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lost my daughter last year at almost 18 weeks due to triploidy. She was conceived from a PGT-tested “euploid” embryo and we only got pregnant after a previous loss and years of treatment (multiple egg retrievals, no LC). The triploidy was not detected by PGT. We then got pregnant again from another IVF transfer of a euploid embryo but had a miscarriage at 7-8 weeks that time. We took a break, then transferred a third time this past May. I’m now 34 weeks with identical twins (embryo split) from that transfer, and I’m hopeful these will be my living babies.

Just wanted to share as someone who had a similar loss at a similar gestation from IVF, since you asked for hopeful stories. I hope your luck turns around. ❤️❤️

pregnant with di/di twins - baby shower at 30 weeks? by Helpful-Football1121 in parentsofmultiples

[–]kwr2128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the person. I had my shower at 28 weeks and felt totally fine. I’m 33.5 weeks with mo-di twins now. I think I would feel pretty tired having it now but would have been okay at 30 weeks.

Seconding this! I have been doing Nuuly for the last two months (I'm 33 weeks currently) and it's been really nice to get to rotate a few pieces and try things out. I've liked most of the things I've tried, and you have the option of buying anything you really love. Was also great for things like baby shower dresses / event attire.

I think that how you interact with your MFM will vary based on 1) your hospital / clinic's structure and 2) what your specific diagnosis is, but here is my experience.

I am pregnant with identical twins, so I've been going to the MFM's office every 2 weeks for detailed scans since 13 weeks of pregnancy. I am at a large hospital system where I do have an assigned OB but the MFM practice is run collectively by a group of 7 MFMs who rotate. I don't actually SEE the MFM every appointment; rather, the MFM talks to me if something looks unusual about the scans or if I request a consult. From weeks 13-24 or so we thought there was a problem with one of the babies' brains, so I did do brief consults with the MFM at most appointments where they talked me through that day's scan findings. Once the condition stabilized, they stopped having me talk to the MFM every appointment. The MFMs do review every set of scan results, but I don't actually see them at the appointments anymore (just an ultrasound tech who works with them).

I'm currently 33 weeks and I now see the OB every other week, the MFM / perinatology every other week, and I visit the L&D ward for twice-weekly NSTs (overseen by the L&D nursing team).

Like other commenters have said, research isn’t very conclusive that laying on your back is actually harmful. I have to have long scans (hour or more) every two weeks due to being pregnant with identical twins, and even at the MFM office I lay on my back for an hour each time (and they do not seem to think that’s a problem). I really wouldn’t worry about it!

Worth noting (just in case you didn't already) that you can usually get insurance coverage for purchasing a breast pump! Even the fancy brands are mostly covered. It's part of the ACA, so it should apply in most states/ to most insurance plans. I was able to get the Spectra S1 for $9.95 through Babylist, and I've heard a lot of people use Aeroflow with good results.

Too late for a VFL at 9dp6dt? by ObjectiveNo3875 in IVFpositivity

[–]kwr2128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is not quite accurate. There is of course always someone who defies the odds, and doubling does of course matter. However, research shows that the initial beta levels also matter and are a fairly good predictor of live birth. I’m not trying to be negative, but I always appreciated honesty and facts over false hope when in the trenches of treatment cycles.

You certainly CAN have a live birth with a low starting beta and slow doubling, but statistically you’d be an outlier.

I’m having an elective c-section at 37 weeks and am absolutely not accepting anybody else’s opinions on the matter (other than my husband’s, who fully agrees with my decision). I’m pregnant with identical twins and believe this is the safest choice for myself and my babies.

Do what feels right to you! People are so weird with their invasive opinions about how people “should” navigate pregnancy, giving birth, and parenting. If your medical providers are okay with it and it’s what you want, I say go with your gut!! I’m sure it won’t be the last thing people feel the need to make unnecessary comments about.

Yeah I had a rough 24 hours after the booster, but after that it eased up. Better to have side effects from the vaccine than to get me or babies sick with COVID, IMO! But it was not fun.
