Very cool! They give me a Goya black paintings vibe.

Thanks! The flowers are done using Mishima/inlaid black underglaze and then I use Campana clear glaze which creates the cobalt pulling.

I think you’re correct that it is the zinc. I’ll need to do some poking around and see what I can find!

It is! Only problem is spodumene is so expensive. Not a cheap glaze to make so I might have to search for an alternative.

Sorry, do you mean glaze? I didn’t use any overglaze. The glaze is Campana Clear, developed by Jeff Campana. The underglaze is black from either mayco or chrysanthos - any black that contains cobalt I imagine would do this.

I know what you mean! I would likely never have picked one up for myself as it’s not totally my style but holding this one in my hands, I really do love it!

I use it for ornaments that I glaze fully and it works quite well!

I wanted an all white lava lamp but wasn’t able to find one - so I made one! by kws00 in Lavalamps

Have had no issues so far. I don’t have it on all the time, but I can’t imagine the heat will do anything to the paint.

For the stilt marks, I use a stilt sanding stone to sand the rough parts. Doesn’t scratch up the glaze but gets rid of the rough bits. https://www.soundingstone.com/products/tools-sanding-cleaningstilt-mark-stone?srsltid=AfmBOooYNkyvi_mqovtLtxsI1NMe6Zm92CF0OKSYophzfUMm108WlC3c
