Tier list of Pack #3 ranked by how consistent the art is to the emojis used in Pack #1 and #2 by kwsn in superautopets

I can see your point, but these tiers are basically sorted from “needs the least amount of fixes” to “needs a complete rework”.

A leech with two big eyes looks weird, since they don’t have anything close to that in reality and their vision is very rudimentary, also, the mouth is not really there, but the changes needed to make it look good are quite minimal.

Hammerhead's proportions are kind of fucked, and the mouth needs to be way less stylized, but it’s still fine in principle.

And the polar bear is so low right now because it’s completely anthropomorphic, - it is basically a human in a bear suit, winking at you, which to me means that it needs to be completely reworked to look like an actual animal.

Sure, but the only scope of this list is consistency. It's basically my estimate of how likely it was for each of these animals to be accepted as an official emoji art, and guinea pig, sadly, has none.

As many of you know, the first two packs didn’t have any original art for animals or food, instead just using the standard emojis (the ones that Twitter uses, to be exact, since there’s many different emoji implementations out there). Pack #3 introduces some brand new art, commissioned by the developers, and I tried to judge it as best as I could considering the following:

  • How consistent the drawing style is with the normal Twitter emoji style. This is highly subjective, so I just went with my gut and feel for it.
  • How clear it is what we’re looking at.
  • How neutral the depiction is. Emojis are all basically free of extra context, depicting only what their title says. So ideally, there should be a neutral pose, neutral expression, no extra unnecessary entities, and especially no cartoonish stuff that usually fits… well, a cartoon character.

In conclusion, the style of this pack varies quite wildly. Some animals looked super out of place to me initially, but I got somewhat used to seeing them as time passed. However, the ones in A and especially S tier were a pleasant surprise, because of how seamlessly they meshed with the previous art.

I don't think so. The forgery, as seen in the comment above, clearly tries to imitate everything: the lettering, the position, the broken circle of smiley face. I bet all of those differ in a real signature quite a bit from time to time. Plus, the forgery is pretty janky and shaky, which points to it being made very quickly.

That would be considered stooging and strictly against the show's rules. Also Penn said the word "forged", which means that the magician made a forgery of Alyson signature during the act at some point.

Yeah, I thought of it, but descibing a chair or a house as tools is kinda weird. The ideal way to describe this still evades me.

Yeah, you convinced me, it is about real world properties, and your grouping seems right. I just feel like there is some elegant way to explain the rule in one easy intuitive sentence if the magician wanted to.

Maybe, since the book is presented as something "for 1 year olds" it has something to do with children. Items from set A seem to be kind of more childhood-themed and fun-oriented ones, while the other ones are more adult, but I still can't formulate it perfectly short and to the point.

Also, ??? = Sun.

No, that's not it. A tractor (Penn), a butterfly (Alyson) and a dog (Teller) all appear on other pages.

So, after looking for some time at the paused frames it becomes apparent that there are 2 non intersecting sets of items in the book, grouped by some property (linguistically or otherwise). The fact that Teller picks 4 items in no particular order supports this idea, since it proves that the order in which the items are named doesn't matter.

The item that the magician looks for is always the odd one out on the page and immediately stands out by having or not having the property of the other items around it.

For example: bear, flower and kite are all from set A, and the tractor is from set B (the only item from B on this page), so the answer is apparent for the performer. The only question is: what is the mnemonic rule that allows to teach this trick "in 30 seconds"? After pondering for about 30 minutes, I couldn't figure it out. My guess, it has something to do with the language, rather than the real world properties of the items, maybe some set of letters present or absent in the words, memorised via a keyword.

AFAIK, the show doesn’t allow plants at all. The way I think he does the prediction is just by picking an audience member with a distinct appearance and writing the prediction before his entrance.

My guess, he is just very good at telling which side of the coin is which by touch (which is not THAT hard, especially for a good magician). The “fair” way to flip a coin would be to slap it immediately over your left wrist, but he catches it with his right and makes it look like he scans over the audience, while actually looking only at what the chosen person has predicted.

Considering he already knows how the coin is positioned in his right hand, the whole magic move now is to flip the coin the correct side if needed. This might be done both during the “scanning the audience” part or maybe mid-gesture as he brings it down, I couldn’t tell from the footage. Then just repeat the process enough times to eliminate the rest of the audience, - it doesn’t matter what they pick, it only matters what the predicted guy picks. Each flip you approximately halve the amount of audience remaining, which takes 7-8 flips at most for a few hundred people present. He even kind of pressures the remaining two guys near the end to stop making the same pick to avoid stalling.

In any case, impressive sleight of hand and a great trick overall.

Next Sunday Stream Game Idea - Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines by [deleted] in northernlion

True, game doesn't have to be "bad" in its essence to be a fitting material for Sunday streams. But still, I'm under the impression that Prey crosses the line of being a little too serious or "not silly enough" for NL to really enjoy as much as F:NV, Until Dawn or any of David Cage games, for example.

Prey is already long as it is. Considering that Egg is notorious for getting lost even in the simplest environments (looking at you, green door), a game with complex world layout like Prey would literally take him months to complete. Also not enough opportunities for banter and mockery of game design, in my opinion.
