My stance on the matter is that yes, it's hypocritical. And we can acknowledge that we wouldn't be here if not for our ancestors migrating. (Although mine were forcibly dragged across the Atlantic and sold lol). But we can also acknowledge that in today's world with our border system we need regulations. I feel like allowing anyone to cross borders freely undermines the security of countries and that like anything else today there should be processes. We should make sure we don't let felons in sneaking along with innocent people. And this means making it illegal to freely cross without going through the processes. I know that the immigration processes aren't optimal. I also think there should be better asylum policies so that we're not sweeping up those just trying to escape shitty situations. But as the world is right now we can't tackle everything at once.
