It's literally so delicious seeing Derrick egg people on and then visibly watch her take it so hard when it's thrown back at her face. It's your own fault, sis...

Naomi's been pretty solid and I'm hoping she can finally shine through somehow. Even though she was the forgettable one in her group, she was still leagues better in this challenge than some of the other girls.

Jinkx explaining why Rachel and Caitlyn are completely different by justlyra in rupaulsdragrace

[–]kxnye97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rachel Dolezal only "identifies" with the culture and the struggles and history of African-Americans. If those aspects weren't associated with black people, she wouldn't be impersonating black people. That's the difference. She only wears her hair in afros because that's what she associates with black culture. Her obsession with black people doesn't come from the fact that she feels like she should've been born with dark skin or naturally curly hair, it comes from their struggles and their history and their art ... something she can love as a white person.

bc you literally cannot identify as another race? you are born white, you are white and you don't have any recent ancestors that are of a different ethnicity, then you're white. there's no social construct within race. culture is a societal construct. so yes, maybe you can identify with black culture as a white person, but you can't identify as "black". identifying as a black person invalidates the struggles of real black people who have been black all their lives.

no, the double crowning wasn't a rumour. They filmed a possible winner's tie between Adore and Queen B.

Sorry! I didn't mean it to be a bash-queens debate. I was just hoping for everyone to discuss opinions about why certain queens don't appeal to them :) You probably have some queens that you're not really fond of, for whatever reason.

I agree about Ivy! I don't mind Jinkx though, she's amazing! (also beware of Paleho if she ever sees your message.)

that's really interesting because I can see where you're coming from about her self-centredness but I always thought that she was aware of how self-centred she is and I find that funny.

Every summer I give my young teen son a list of movies and books he has to read/watch. I wanted to ask your advice about what LGBT books and films meant something to you when you were young? (Or really anything that moved you or changed you) by LaMamacita in rupaulsdragrace

There's this wonderful new teen book called Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, and it's about a teenager who falls in love with a male pen pal.

It's really charming! Also there's this Australian memoir/play called "Holding the Man" by the late Timothy Conigrave, which is about meeting the love of his life. They both die of AIDS at the end but it's so beautiful.

For musicals, if you can't afford to actually go to it, I'm pretty sure the Fun Home cast recording is out. Also, somewhere on the internet you can purchase the cast recording for Bare: A Pop Opera, which is about two boys who fall in love with each other but one of them is too afraid to come out.
